I have said this a million times. If a single, black man behaved the way he does, constantly upstaging teammates, bitching at refs and getting into verbal altercations with the other team, he would get destroyed by the press. Since Rivers is white, married and has reproduced legitimately, he is seen as a gritty competitor

I've never gotten the hate, even Ron Vanderlinden managed to beat him (albeit in overtime).
Incidentally, I was the one picked for the halftime punt pass and kick that game (and failed spectacularly).
