How many TEBOW-GASMS did everyone have yesterday?

  • On the way back from Memphis this weekend, we got the Denver broadcast of the game. During the fourth quarter, the Bronco announcers were actually saying things like, "If he completes this comeback, you really have to wonder if there is actually some divine intervention going on when Tebow is in the game."

"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."

Tebow hating was fun in 2009. In 2011 it's the equivalent of using "pw3nd".

The new in thing is hating Joe Buck.

  • if he had completed that last pass, it would have been renamed to a Hail Tebow

  • I used to hate Joe Buck like he murdered my family. I have finally come to realize that he is actually a funny dude who gets dragged down by his color guys, and ssometimes let's the mic pick up the game atmosphere too much then announcing or getting excited.

    Giants. Yankees. Terps.

Troy Aikman is one of the best in the biz. I'm pretty sure Joe Buck is just a jagoff.

Aikman is absolutely terrible. He takes 40 sentences to say what most people could say in 1. And almost everything he says is dumb anyways.

    Giants. Yankees. Terps.

Clearly you never watched his short-lived HBO show.

I used to think Bob Costas was overrated, then I watched Joe Buck do his best Bob Costas impression.

Let's just say that if Joe Buck was Joe White, he'd be the sports director at the Grand Rapids, Mich. station.

He should have just had Artie Lange on every week to shit on him. That was HOF TV.

  • Things that were cool in 2009:

    Hating Tim Tebow
Caring that Michael Jackson was dead
    Jordan Williams

  • It's not that I hate Tebow, it's that I hate the media coverage. I don't care about Tebow any more than I care about Chaz Whitehurst. They're both shitty QBs but when Whitehurst takes over for Tavaris it's not on the front page of ESPN.

Maybe if Chaz Whitehurst was arguably one of the top 10 college football players of all-time and his jerseys were among the highest selling in the NFL, he'd get the same attention.

God people are stupid. Here's a thought if you are sick of hearing about Tim Tebow: DON'T CLICK ON THE STORIES THAT SAY TEBOW

  • I don't hate or care about tebow. i just know he is and will be a shitty nfl qb. i don't feel any differently about him than i do about colt mccoy.

tebow bothers me because no one can point to anything other than intangibles for why they think he'll be a good QB. and intangibles are retarded.

i think intangibles exist, for the record, but if tebow ends up being good (he wont), it will be for actual football reasons, not for his HEART and his GRIT and his LEADERSHIP and his DEVOTION TO CHRIST

Who cares if he'll be a good NFL QB? There are already like 10 good NFL QBs. It's like when people complained about Brett Favre throwing a lot of interceptions -- that's just what Brett Favre does. So when Tebow goes 14-35 with 218 yards passing and 50 yards rushing and a couple TDs, it will be compelling TV. Not because he's necessarily great, but because he's unique.

It's pretty stupid to complain about the NFL cracking down on individuality and then want another random white QB clone. Are you more likely to watch a game with Blaine Gabbert at QB or Tim Tebow?

    hgoodman

  • That's it. I've officially become converted into a Tebow lover. Not because I think he's any good, just because people complaining about it are so God damn annoying.

Keegs, you have to turn in your Brooklyn hipster card if you keep this up. You're just one of the masses.

  • Tebow has two national championships and a Heisman. In addition he is vocal about his faith which is polarizing. The media is covering him because he is a person of interest. I think this thread is proof of that. Do people really not understand the difference between the interest in Tebow and Charlie Whitehurst?

Cam Newton has a similar feel. Heisman trophy and NC winner. Also, suspected of being a pay for play player. Many on this board predicted he would be a horrible pro. Much like Tebow, this "scouting" came from a much different place than what people know about the QB position.

I'm not making the point that the dislike isn't justified, I'm am saying it exists. Tebow is an elite athlete with suspect mechanics for his position. 95% of this board knows as much about playing QB in the NFL as Hogie knows about women.

    I like him.

    UMClassof90

  • I'm in the camp of realizing he's not good but I really hope he does well because of how much it annoys people

    b1210k

  • You're either with Merrill Hodge, or against him. And I stand by anyone that can make Hodge look like an idiot.

If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?

I don't give a shit if Tim Tebow is good or bad. I just want sports analysts to say smart things about sports. This is why I read the prospectuses, follow guys like @smartfootball, etc. And Tim Tebow turns people into mouthbreathers who can't come up with any analysis more than "urrrgh! winner!!! heart and SPEECHES AND leadership hrhrhrh"

So you're mad at Tebow because when you watch ESPN at 3 p.m. you get really shitty analysis?
