Hamels admits to intentionally beaning Harper

  • BobWadeSurvivor said...

and whats funny is, that is 39 more people than would ever get on a bus in DC to come to philly for a Nats game.

I will take the wackos over all of the empty seats on that bus coming to philly any day

here are the NL attendance rankings for the phillies before they played at citizen:

10th, 14th, 14th, 13th, 12th, 14th, 14th while playing perhaps the largest baseball stadium in mlb. there were many seasons dating back to the mid 1980s where they were well before 2M, and the majority of their season during the span were under 2M.

the second season in Citizen, they dropped from 3M+ and 2nd to a little over 2.5M and 9th. the following year, 2.7M and 7th. It was only during their run of 1st place div finishes did they ranked higher. So let's not pretend you're all just a bunch of die hard fans, winning brings the fannies, including the bandwagon whores who don't know jack about baseball.

and dont forget he employed a guy who hit Utley and Howard 6 fucking times.

how many of those pitchers immediately announced to the press that they did it intentionally?

    the answer is zero.

none of them were that stupid.

    terp11

  • terp11 said...

Yeah right, because every pitcher in MLB history that has ever hit someone immediately holds a press conference to announce that he did it on purpose.

Jesus christ, you motherfuckers are stupid.

OBVIOUSLY, what Hamels did wasn't wrong. Announcing to the world like a little bitch that he did it intentionally, rightfully bought him a 5 game suspension.

And before BWES gets his panties in a wad, YES we understand that is 1 missed start.

Which is the correct penalty. And this thing is over as far as the Nats are concerned. Which leaves you free to go about acting like a bunch of douchebags.

and it's one thing to say something, it's another to say something stupid. It's a non story, no harm no foul except that hamels sounds like an idiot. rizzo should have left it at that.

This. (even funnier is I 100% agree with bob and sully -- maybe the world is ending)

  • What Victorino did tonight was potentially way more dangerous to an athlete's career than what Hamels did. Harper might have a bruise on the lower back, Victorino (sliding 10 ft wide of second base) could have blown someone's knee out. He gets penalized with an out. Why isn't anybody complaining about that stuff?

It was not potentially more dangerous. People have died before from a HBP. No one has died because of a slide

Wow. Rizzo crushed Hamels there. If I am a Nats fan I love that. He really summed up Cole with the "fake tough" guy - that is exactly what he is. but at least Cole has come around when he was a pussy just a few years ago so that is progress.

that being said. Bryce better get used to getting drilled. the way he plays and carries himself will lead to that.

holy shit you are an idiot of epic proportions....cole has "come around" since he won a world series mvp??

but harper should expect to get hit for doing absolutely nothing

as usual its opposite day in bws land

  • Agree with Coltsfan. Harper proved that he is no mere mortal by surviving that fastball to his lower back. I'm sure most Nats' fans saw BHarp's career flash before their very eyes as the pitch descended upon him.

Hopefully the bruise doesn't keep him out of the lineup for too many upcoming games.

phillies have a top 3 fanbase....keep being a douchey washington/atlanta/miami fan and having no idea what you are talking about when it comes to sports or sports cities....

the phillies put you on the map...you should be suckling at their teet.....you dont exist without them recognizing you....and everyone laughs at your joke of a fanbase and city for trying sooooooooo hard....

lol, like Nats fans regardless of age JUST started watching baseball when they came to town. do you really think this?

I'd equate the Nats fanbase to a Florida NHL team. There's a loyal core who has followed the sport but a bulk of the fans seem to lack basic baseball knowledge. There's nothing wrong with that. It is an expansion market so the baseball IQ isn't that high. It's why the team has to rely on gimmicks (e.g. NATITUDE, Take Back The Park, etc) to pump up interest, despite having a winning team.

The good news is that a team can win big despite having sub-par support. The Marlins are a good example and Nats' fans can also take comfort in the Tampa Bay Lightning's cup run in 2004. The Nats are pretty much the TB Lightning of MLB, after all.

And keep being an self congratulatory dickwad.

You are really good at it, and I'm a firm believer that you should play to your strength.

I am happy that the fanbase that booed the greatest third basement in history throughout his entire fucking career is now going to teach us about baseball.

But I (for one) am up for it. Let me know when the lessons begin.

you are literally one of the dumbest people I have ever come across. and just like Cole is "fake tough", you are a "fake fan" in the most obvious of ways. go eff yourself you piece of garbage.

I am done addressing you after this. I will address obvious phillies fans who actually follow them and would know how much of a woman he was when his career first started. he still has womanish qualities but the "old Cole" would never have done what he did the other night.....so, yea, he has "come around" a bit. now how about you go crawl back into your south philly rowhome or onto the mean streets of philly or DC or wherever the hell you claim to live these days and allow the rest of us to carry on.

It is very impressive that you interviewed the majority of the Nat's fanbase.

By all means, please post your findings here.

Surely you know that the "gimmicks" you talk about above are called "marketing", right?

And if you are going to use lousy analogies, try using one with more relevance, like the Rays. Because the Nationals (like the Rays) are going to be around for a while. Both their pitching staff, and everyday lineups are young.

keep making stuff up...it's working. Aside from your assumptions, what you just described could be true for almost any team. Those gimmicks are called marketing and if anything, the Nats have lacked in this department. Do you honestly think "gimmicks" are not used by every franchise since the beginning of dawn? mascots, bat night, bobblehead night, etc...what the heck do you think this is? Orioles fever, what is this?

I'm a Nats fan and have been following baseball since the late 70s. There are plenty of Nats fans like me. You think those old guys going to ball games just picked up interest in baseball last year? LOL If anything, the Nats don't have any bandwagon fans, because they don't command the interest in the city...which is the opposite of your assumption that the Nats have a bunch of new no nothing fans.

Yeah those are good comparisons. Certain franchises in North American sports just have that plastic gimmicky feel to them

Especially since they've gotten rid of those awful uniforms they had at first. The current ones are sweet.
