  • clearly soccer doesnt count...lol at anyone that thinks it remotely matters in american sports

but bigger picture.....dont you actually have to have had four teams for twenty years to qualify as a four sport city that hasnt won a title in twenty years??

  • This is B.S. Everyone knows the Expos were going to win the World Series in the '94 strike season. That counts as far as I'm concerned.

Soccer will never surpass NFL/MLB/NBA, but keep thinking that NHL is untouchable.

The NHL is untouchable vs. MLS so long as the NHL gets the best players in its sport while the MLS doesn't. So, yeah, the NHL will be a bigger deal for at least all of our lifetimes.

jesus i hate people who cite attendance numbers

get back to me when the mls has a real tv contract with real ratings.....im not even saying that wont happen one day....but until it does then we will entertain its legitimacy...until then go away

  • lol, drawing 17k with teams playing like once a week in football stadiums is impressive! Hockey teams are doing that with at least 2 home games nearly every week.

This is exactly the problem... the MLS is growing. It *used* to be in football stadiums, but now there are soccer specific stadiums for almost all the teams.. and they seat like 20k

    https://www.google.com/search?q=MLS+stadiums&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Mwn&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=imvnsu&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=tlGvT6HRM-afiQLwtOnZAw&ved=0CIQBELAE&biw=1320&bih=729

Again, it is not there yet, but to argue that NHL is in the big boy league and MLS is nowhere close is stupidity.

Even if they did, 1994 was 18 years ago.

    True.

Though what would the rank be if you brought it down to 3 or 2 team markets?

    Seattle hasn't won one at all....Cleveland hasn't had one since I've been alive....Cincy was 1990....KC was 1985.

...so yeah, the trivia is specious/suspect.

edit: of course SEA won in 1979 with a team they no longer have.

  • Soccer - great sport. MLS - total waste and in no way relevant to anything

    Its not a difficult concept

even for a three team city 20 years is 20 years....i was more making fun of dook for the stupid nugget he was trying to drop....you cant be lumped in with four team cities just because you got a fourth team last week

i think the better number to go by is seasons played since your last title and even then dc is right up there...they are 7th on this list

    135 - cleveland
    99 - sd
    96 - sea
    88 - buffalo
    82 - milwaukee

    I completely forgot about SD.

I think everyone considers GB MIL's team (even though it's several hours away). They even used to play 3-4 games a year in County Stadium.
