  • My strategy generally is to take a stud RB early then a couple #1 receivers and then stock up on RBs when people are scrambling for receivers. This year there's a lot of receivers I like in rounds 4-6 though so I may try to get two good backs and then a couple lesser receivers with upside like Percy, Decker, Llloyd, Brown.

In PPR leagues, Foster as the #1 is not nearly the slam dunk you seem to think it is, and plenty of people seem to disagree on the order of Foster-Rice-Shady.

Agree 100 percent in ppr leagues. TBH I hate foster and rice. This is a good year to have like pick 6, and of course I get top 2 for the first time in 10 years.

I value traditional consistency while mixing in unproven talent.

Also BJGE is a sleeper #2 RB this year. He isn't a sexy pick but with the way Cincy uses their #1 RB he will be valuable. Once you get to out of the top 4 RB you're pretty much picking a backup or a committee RB anyway.

  • In a 12-team league with 2 keepers. My keeper options are as follows:

    Foster
    Charles
    Murray
    Welker
    Green

Foster is obvious, my inclination after that is to keep Charles. Thoughts?

Just takes the place of your 1st and 2nd rd picks, but you don't have to keep anyone. Not a PPR league.

Hillis makes me nervous, but I see Charles breaking long runs and getting his points that way. Then again, he could also go down the 2nd game again like last year.

  • do you know your pick slot? Is Charles going above number 13? fwiw the mock i just read, allegedly based on our scoring system, has charles at 24. Murray was kept so he isn't there

  • ffftoolbox.com (never seen it before just now) has murray adp at 14 and charles at 21, not customizable to scoring system

Fftoolbox has been around and is okay, but I get the impression it's just some random dudes doing their projections on limited research. I use it, but as a tie-breaker or secondary resource.

Yes, but during the special ESPN ran last night both Berry and Hasselbeck picked Charles over Murray in a head-to-head comparison. Both agreed Murray will get more carries, but Charles has more big play ability and is more likely to stay healthy than Murray.

I don't think Hillis will hurt Charles that much; Charles had a big season with Thomas Jones getting a lot of carries as well.

  • I have a draft this afternoon but haven't kept up with any football news yet. Who do I avoid drafting? Any players out for whole season or out for beginning of season due to injury or suspension? Couple sleepers/ rookies?

    I'd keep green.

Probably too late now, but Peterson is still recovering but almost ready, Wallace and MJD are holding out, McFadden, fjax, and forte seem ready to go, mendenhall is out thru September and best is still out. Late sleepers are backup RB's to these recently injured guys.

  • How nuts would I be for taking Chris Johnson at #3 in a PPR league? I'm not really big on Mccoy.

Very risky, but such high potential. Fwiw, I wasn't sold on McCoy last year, took him with the 10th pick, and he won me my league.

  • Had my first draft today with the #1 pick. All TDs worth 6, no Ppr.

    QB RG3
    RB Foster
    RB Mathews
    Wr Percy
    Wr Colston
    Wr A. Brown
    TE Gronk
    W/r K. Smith
    K
Def Detroit (week 1 home to St. Louis)
    Tate
    Ryan Williams
    Austin Collie
    TO
    DHB
    Amendola
    Carson

Top 5 QBs went in the top 14. I wanted Vick in the 4th or Eli/Romo in the 5th but they were all gone and Ryan in the 6th but he was gone so I waited for RG3. It sucks having to play matchups at QB but I like the rest of my team. Gonna play matchups with D and kicker. Thoughts?

    terps08

  • I'm not just saying this because I'm a Ravens fan, under no circumstances can you leave your draft with RG3 and Carson Palmer as your QBs.

    WMTerp12

  • Who did you take with your 3rd pick? Matthews? I don't hate the pick but maybe would have gone a different direction. The way your team ended up is the #1 reason I dont want to take Foster at 1 unless youre going Cam Newton on the turn. That 6th-7th round pick where you had to take Ben Tate is a place where you could grab a good enough QB to compete.

It's risky but even with as shitty of a year as he had last year he still had 1000 yards and 57 catches.

    WMTerp12

  • I got Tate in the 8th round with RG3 at the turn. QBs left in the 6th were Ben, RG3, Cutler, and a bunch of garbage. I took Carson just because he's home against SD week 1 and RG3 has to go to NO. I'm probably gonna replace him with a sleeper like Locker after that week. I'll def be relying on my plus RBs and TE to make up for playing a rookie and matchups at QB. RG3 should just be a healthy Michael Vick lite and win me a ship!

Don't know my slot yet. Yahoo has Murray at 24, Charles at 27, Green at 28, and Welker at 31. Welker was the highest scoring of all of them last year, but Charles was injured all year. Only current FA slotted above all 4 is Trent Richardson, but i don't know everyone else's keepers yet.

Thinking I'm either keeping Charles for his big-play ability or keeping Green and targeting Doug Martin.

    DTMoney121

  • In a keeper league, I am keeping Stafford and AJ Green (as 6th and 7th rounders...both drafted in the 9th) and have the 5th pick in the first round of the draft. Assuming McCoy, Foster, and Rice are all gone I kinda have to go with Calvin right? I would love to have MJD but I don't want to touch him with the holdout issue.

    Thoughts?
