Gronk obviously has to compete with Wes, Hernandez, Lloyd, etc, but with no run game to speak of they'll still move the ball through the air. Gronk and Graham are so far ahead of all other tight ends, I see them falling no further than early 3rd. I may take one in the 2nd. If you have one of ARod/Brees/Brady, and one of Gronk/Graham, you have such a big advantage every week at that position that you can start WR2's and RB 2's that you draft after them. My perfect draft (assuming no top 3 pick) is Rodgers 1st, RB 2nd, and TE 3rd (I've got AJ Green as a keeper).

agree 100 percent. Dude I was responding to was calling gronk a first rounder.

  • Im in a keeper leauge with an odd set up. I have Cam Newton and Marshawn Lynch. It looks like the 2 best players when I pick will be Steven Jackson or Julio Jones. Who would you go with?

What pick is that/scoring system/roster details? So many questions before answering. Can you keep this player next year and for years after?

  • The main argument for Rice over Foster is that his handcuff is much easier to pickup. No need to waste a middle round pick on Bernard Pierce.

I will have the option to keep the player for next season.
    Scoring:
    .5 PPR
    10 rush yds
    20 rec yds
    td =6
    6th pick in a 12 team keeper

I know you like to pretend to be smart in fantasy football threads, but in what way is Foster better than Rice? (I also do not like the Ravens, if that makes a difference)...

Rice had more touches, yards, TDs, higher avg/rush, rec yards, receptions, rec TDs...obvious advantage if playing in a PPR league....

Also, and maybe most importantly, Rice has nobody to share carries with, while Foster has been injuried in the past and has to share carries with Ben Tate, whom actually had better stats than Foster last year and could easily replace him. Oh and Houston lost one side of their O-line.

Yes I realize foster missed time last year, but it's still not really hard to understand actually

I don't disagree with any of that, I just don't see anyone arguing that. It seemed like wmterp was arguing with something no one had said? I'm praying the guy in front of me takes rice.

Anyone arguing that Foster isn't #1 (happened in this thread) I would assume would be arguing Rice.

Agree with TG. While SJax may have a very good year, it's hard to tell when he's going to hit the wall as a RB. You could not want him as a keeper next year, and he may not reward you in 2013 as a keeper. Plus, SJax is a very solid RB. I like him as a RB2, but I think you can find his production elsewhere, even in a keeper league.

OTOH, Julio has a good chance to break out this year and be one of the top WR options in 2013.

That's a pretty solid team. You need your QBs to stay healthy though.

  • RE: McCoy at six

    yeah

    The first 5 were:

    Rodgers, Brady, Foster, Brees, Rice

don't know the exact order they were in though

This seems weak for a 10 team league IMO

    nah

Only real question mark is QB. I'm banking on at least one of them to have a good year. I'll take those odds.

I also forgot to add Stevan Ridley to the RBs. BGE is gonna get a workload on Cincy.

I got Roddy in the 3rd and Wallace in the 4th, both great values.

This is a cheap $20 work league and I'm in the playoffs every year.

Really? I think it's pretty strong.

  • @Toogs

In PPR leagues, Foster as the #1 is not nearly the slam dunk you seem to think it is, and plenty of people seem to disagree on the order of Foster-Rice-Shady.

  • I'm currently looking at a standard PPR scoring 10-team league with:

    QB - Matthew Stafford
    RB - DeMarco Murray
    RB - Reggie Bush
    RB/WR - Steven Ridley
    WR - Brandon Marshall
    WR - Jordy Nelson
    RB/WR/TE - Mike Wallace
    TE - Jason Witten/Brandon Pettigrew

Potentially weak on rushing yards, but great for PPR, IMO. Thoughts?

  • I guess I just value players differently. I think Roddy is behind Julio and Wallace behind Brown this year. Also not big on BJGE and think the rest of your backs are wildcards who may not see significant time. Everyone else seems to think its good so good luck to you!

I value traditional consistency while mixing in unproven talent.

Also BJGE is a sleeper #2 RB this year. He isn't a sexy pick but with the way Cincy uses their #1 RB he will be valuable. Once you get to your 3rd, 4th, 5th RBs you're pretty much picking a backup or a committee RB anyway.

I agree with Julio over Roddy, but I'm not ready to put Brown ahead of Wallace. In the mocks that I've done, Wallace is going later than I thought he would. One thing I've also noticed is that with so many questions at RB, everyone is going to have iffy picks there,so I'm looking to load up on at least 2 Wr1 types, and I'll take my chances later with a beanie wells or helu at RB2.
