Krakow is not a host city, did you mean Poznan? I hope so anyway.

Gdansk looks like it will be the most fun, due to its location right near the beach resorts. Plan on hanging out with some friends in Sopot on the eve of the Ireland/Spain match.

All of the cities Im visiting should have a great atmosphere, if only for the tremendous crowds for the Poland and Ireland matches.

There are upwards of 40k Irish fans heading over, and tickets for all of their group matches are going for crazy money.

Yeah, not sure why I had Krakow on the brain - it's one of the reserve venues. Put Poznan just below Wroclaw then.

Gdansk is beautiful in very small parts (the historic center is tremendous), but it's largely a disgusting grimy Soviet era port city. Not a huge fan of the Baltic beaches, but they should be a riot during the Euros.

Wroclaw and Lviv will just be jammed to the teeth and all the basement and underground bars, clubs and nightlife to go with the gorgeous scenery (in more ways than one) make them my top choices for the best entertainment.

The group A is going to be fun with Russia Poland and the Czechs. Fun before fights after games.

    This. 100x times this.

I know everyone on TV is going to be focusing on other groups, but that is going to be BY FAR the most entertaining in person. And you're forgetting the Greeks as the 4th team, like they won't be causing havoc. I have a feeling it'll break down into Greeks & Russians v. Poles and Czechs, but you never know. I do know that there is no way on earth another groups fans even come within half of the total alcohol Group A drinks.

The WHO puts Czech at #2 in terms of alcohol consumption per capita, Russia is #4 and Poland is 20th ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_alcohol_consumption ). That list makes me lol at Western Europe by the way. Get ready to put your man pants on before you come east, and that goes for even the Irish. Lightweights, all of them.

Well, when all you have to watch is this in Eastern Europe, you are pretty much driven to drink.

  • ABE - anbody but England. And my heritage is 90% English but F those guys. July 4, 1776 bitches.

I like finding an underdog and enjoying the ride (like Turkey). No pre tourney faves for me.

  • England sucks and is just as much an underdog as any other shitty team

  • While they are supremely talented, I'm a little cautious about the Dutch for the Euros. Sneijder has been out of form and/or injured all year. Definitely not going to see him playing to that crazy '10 World Cup level. RVP is already showing signs of returning back from the stratosphere, and just looks plain tired out there for Arsenal right now. Van der Vaart looks the same. Robben is still up to his same old dodgy flapper tricks, however.

RvP is going to be showered with every British accolade imaginable after his year with Arsenal, and will have a ton of hype on his shoulders for the Euros. But if the goals aren't coming will he be upstaged by Klaas Jan-Huntelaar? (..who has been white hot himself for Schalke, and is my sneaky bet to be the star of this tournament.)

    Soundsnice

  • Huntelaar got a raw deal as far as perception is concerned bc of his two quick and failed stints at big clubs. He needed time to settle, but never got it. Now he is lighting it up at Schalke.

I would say Samir Nasri, but he already did this last season in the EPL. Maybe Loic Remy.

Nasri has been excellent for several months.

I want to see the Spanish and Dutch keep pooping on everyone. Though the Krauts are really fun to watch.

Basically just rooting for England to fail miserably and whatever else is cool.

I'm gonna stick with Russian club players and take Aiden McGeady to have a silly tourney and make an absurd amount of money while underachieving somewhere in England next year.

mcgeady is so out of shape right now that its very unlikely. his wife recently gave birth, so im guessing futebol is not a priority right now.

McGeady had a falling out with Karpin and has barely played for Spartak in months. I have literally no clue what he's going to do at the Euros.

Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Borussia Monchengladbach), Tim Wiese (SV Werder Bremen), Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover 96).

Defence: Holger Badstuber (Bayern Munich), Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich), Benedikt Howedes (Schalke), Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich), Per Mertesacker (Arsenal), Marcel Schmelzer (Borussia Dortmund).

Midfielders: Lars Bender (Bayer Leverkusen), Sven Bender (Borussia Dortmund), Julian Draxler (Schalke), Mario Gotze (Borussia Dortmund), Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich), Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich), Mesut Ozil (Real Madrid), Lukas Podolski (Cologne), Marco Reus (Borussia Monchengladbach), Andre Schurrle (Bayer Leverkusen), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich).

Forwards: Cacau (Stuttgart), Mario Gomez (Bayern Munich), Miroslav Klose (Lazio).

Would love to see this starting 11. Klose still has better movement and passing than Gomez and fits this team better.

  • I think it will be Gomez up front with Podolski and Gotze on the wings. Ozil slids into the CAM role with Schweintseiger and Khedira (50/50) as the other two.

This. I'd put Khedira in front of the back four and Schweinsteiger as a super sub.

I think Poldi, Gomez, Mueller and Khedira are better coming off the bench on this team.

In front of Schweini, the free flowing combination of Goetze, Ozil and Kroos with Reus out on the wing would be ridiculous. Gomez is a beast, but for 90 minutes, I think Klose creates more opportunities. Not only for himself, but for overlapping runs and cut back runs. Either way, the inclusion of Cacau is dissapointing. Would have rather seen a Lewis Holtby or Marko Marin make the team.

Hold on, lemme get this straight. You'd rather have Khedira than Schweinsteiger?

    gotech06

  • Ozil seems to find his way out to the wings a lot and then make diagonal runs/passes as the offense transitions. Kroos and Schweini would be double 6's with Schweini sitting back a bit more. Goetze as a false 9 and Reus swapping with Ozil. This team would rip defenses apart.
