Eli thinks he's in the same class as Tom Brady

  • Give me 100 people who truly watch and know football. Have them rank Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Is Eli Manning not going to rank 4th on every single ranking? To me, you can't be elite if there's a tier clearly above you.

Being elite is overrated if people are making a big deal of this. Who cares if he's "elite"? Dude is great. ~25 teams would be lucky to have him. I personally won't change the definition of elite to praise the guy though. He can still get praised by me acknowledging he's a great QB and a top 6 QB. He's just not as good as Rodgers, Brees and Brady no matter how you spin it. We all have to know this right?

Players I'm driving the bandwagon for: Kevin Gregg

Headlines can be a better version of:
If Giants win: Brady not in Eli's class.
If Giants lose: Sorry Eli, not in his class.
    Write it down.

    That second headline could happen.

That first one, not a chance.

The stupidest headline writer in the world is still smarter than a slime mold.

Aaron Rodgers was a complete failure today. So he has 1 SB and so does Eli. Eli is going on the road being a world beater. I think there is no question A Rodgers is 4th on that list.

New York headlines had Eli on Sylverster Stallones body holding guns with the headline Rambeau II on Saturday.

If Eli beat Brady for the 2nd time in a super bowl I don't think it's too big a stretch some NY paper might have something about the controvery around the Eli Brady talk from August. Just maybe. But your right. If they wrote that it would just be RIDICULOUS.

    Unlike headlines like this: http://www.totalpackers.com/2012/01/13/eli-manning-is-now-rambo/

    Thanks for playing.

    The New York Post?

My bad. When you started talking about headlines I thought we would limit ourselves to the realm of the reasonably credible, by wisely ruling out sensationalist Murdoch toilet paper. But I guess the supermarket-aisle tabloids get to count as "headlines" too.

In which case we can't rule out the "Eli Manning Pregnant With Batboy's Love Child" headline either.

    Playing, indeed.

Now that you mention it, he did seem slow in the pocket today.

  • Manningham makes a great catch, Welker drops one. Simple as that.

You don't think Eli made better throws than Brady today? Seemed like he did to me.

They both played pretty well. Eli had a couple ducks there in the second half, but he was good. Just thought Brady was throwing lasers and his boys dropped like 3 of them at the end.

    No seriously....what's the joke?

  • Eli is the most clutch QB in the history of the game. 2 game winning super bowl drives with 2 minutes to go over Belicheck's defense. TWO. This guy just made the Hall of Fame. Rivers? Big Ben? Please. 2004 has a pecking order and Eli is at the freaking top.

  • There was definitely some drops by NE receivers. Asshole Collinsworth seemed to rip into the receivers way too much, though. Brady seemed to be a little bit off/behind again tonight to me. That Branch drop on that last drive had to be soul crushing for Pats fans.

Another observation, the NE defense played well tonight but Eli didn't have to deal with the inside pressure that Brady had to deal with.

    funbunny

  • I think it's a bit harsh to call the Welker non-catch a "drop" since Brady threw it behind him and he had to leap and make the grab over his "wrong" shoulder. Does he catch that ball more often than not? Probably, but that's because he is really good. It's a classic case of expectations.

Conference realignment, SoCon style: some actual news (Mercer, ETSU, and VMI?) and a little speculation http://wp.me/plDgR-1jv
