Stern definitely gets the better of the exchange. But, and I hate to defending Rome in this situation, when you run a private lottery and show the results of said lottery afterwards in a silly ratings grab, you are opening yourself from having to entertain the same stupid questions. Stern is so glib and full of himself it's outrageous.

Nobody actually wants to watch the lottery. Given the choice between airing the boring piece of shit that is the actual NBA lottery draw and silencing critics, or taking the ratings and having to beat down the ridiculous conspiracy theories, they'll take the latter every time.

I don't think Jim Rome's question about the lottery being fixed was the same as David Stern's example of a loaded question because J.Rome's question didn't imply that D.Stern was already guilty of something the way "Have You Stopped Beating Your Wife" does. Whether D.Stern likes it or not, there is a perception that the NBA games and lottery are fixed!! I mean, wasn't there a Yahoo article in which one or more anonymous NBA GM's were quoted as saying the lottery held last month was fixed?? What about the Tim Donaghy mess and Game 6 of the Kings-Lakers 2002 Western Conference Final.I believe Michael Wilbon said he and some writers left Staples Center that night saying "Something Didn't Seem Right About What We Just Watched"!!

David Stern has that condescending, bullying tone(it must be the lawyer in him!! LOL), so it always seems as if he's dominating the person he is speaking too. The only people who can really stand up to him in a back-and-forth exchange with him are fellow condescending, bully types!! I thought Jim Rome handled himself well in the exchange, it's not as if he started yelling or cursing. I'm guessing D.Stern wanted him to react that way.
