I was at the game with my son. Sometimes it harder to analyze that way but I came away pretty annoyed with a couple things. The long balls were killing me. I'm OK with a couple long balls a game if there is a purpose to it. Like if a guy is open or has some break away possiblity. Also if you need to relieve pressure it can be OK. But our Defense repeatedly booted the ball up field when we had complete control of the ball. Very early on I mentioned it to my buddy who came with me who is not a huge soccer fan. But even he noticed from that point forward how often they were doing it and how it never worked. All it did was just turn over posession. Ugh.

So true. Mohawk guy was the biggest culprit. We'd have the ball, passing it around, and he would get it and launch it 40 yards down the field and out of bounds. It's like he had Tourette's and couldn't help himself from lashing out in a demented fit of kick ball.
You guys definitley watched more DCU than me over the last couple years, but does anyone else think Najar should play centrally as a playmaker behind the strikers? I feel like he's kind of wasted out wide and think his dribbling and passing would put a lot of pressure on defenses if it was coming from the hole behind the forwards.

Agree gocaps1, Not only were we sloppy in possesion, we couldnt maintain it. Period. The only time we maintained any sort of possesion was through back passing to the defense.
I was worried how Kitchen would adapt to playing the DM role + ball winner and he was throughly outplayed by KC's midfield, we were dominated by them.
It's awesome we have all these attacking players, but McDonald playing long balls to them isnt going to win games. Boskovic and Kitchen need to figure out how to maintain possesion.

The worst thing about that longball "strategy" is that it came against KC - a team filled with enormous guys. We were dwarfed at nearly every position. The play where Bunbury trucked the hell out of Woolard to power a header on net (and get a great save out of Hamid) was almost comical, like watching Shaq dunk over a point guard.
