Dick fart piss fuck. I've had it with my family's pool. Next year, you guys are doing it for me. The family pool I'm in is done two ways. We fill out a bracket, just like any other pool. But with ours, we also pick games each round as the tournament progresses and with it, we pick the score, closest to the right point differential wins. Bonus points given for correct point differential and exact score. Bonuses are also given for being the only one to pick a team to win. Likewise, you get hammered if you are the only one to pick a team that loses.
I have tried all methods of picking scores, Vegas, Kenpom, ESPN, CBS, I even charted the last ten years of each game (i.e., the average score of the 6/10 game in the Midwest is 67-60.) Yes, that's how desperate I am. There are six of us in this pool. I'm pretty sure my brother-in-law goes mostly by Vegas. The dagger is both my mother and father have their own systems and they usually finish 1/2. This year, I haven't won a game since the first round. FIRST ROUND!
If you were in a pool like this, aside from killing yourself, how would you pick scores?
classlessthug: I have too much on my plate to worry about the fact that my junk intimidates some needle D undergrad.
Worst bracket I have ever filled out. I have 0 Final Four teams left and am in last place in both of my groups. Wayyyyyyy overthought it this year and should have just went with my gut (in which case I'd have 3 of my Final Four teams left).
Can't do any worse than I'm doing. I'm guessing between some of you stat nerds and degenerate gamblers, you guys should be able to come up with a sure fire way to come up with scores.
Miami - FF
MSU - FF
Kansas - National Champion
YankeeTerp - Idiot.
The opposite. The tournament has proven to be completely irrational.
Moved up to #104 in the board contest despite losing 3 FF teams.
Still an idiot though.
I'm currently leading in my group, with 90.2% correct. The only Final 4 team I have left is Michigan, though... which I had losing to Michigan State in that game. I assume my percentage will continue to drop and I'll ultimately lose. Closest person to me is at 82% and he has Ohio State and Michigan both left. $400 dollars up for grabs. I guess I'm a huge Wichita State fan tonight.
If you picked 90.2% correct, you're an idiot.
Likewise, if you don't understand the difference between per cent correct and percentile...
Can't argue that. Now that the Syracuse game ended, I'm at 86.8%... second place is at 79.5.
Granted I have had a handful of beers but he did say 90.2% correct, no?
Fuck CBS for continuing to call that douchenozzle Craft a pre-med student. He is majoring in Exercise Science. lol at calling a Kinesiology student "pre med"
And I assumed "PCT" meant % correct. When looking at all the red on my bracket, I should've known better.
Right. I was making fun of him, not you.
Edit - meant to quote EAM.

I had Pitt beating the Shockers in round 1.
Even though I my bracket officially died after Thursday night's games, I want to use the Michigan/Florida game to take one more shot at myself. After the first month of the season, I had Michigan as the team to beat for the National Championship. They started to falter near the end of conference play and I really soured on them. They might not win the whole damn thing, but it would have been a hell of a lot better than my Miami pick.
Look what I said on March 9.
Now, did I go ahead and pick Syracuse and Michigan? Of course not.
Of course UK is going to run Florida out of the gym today and get a bid
along these lines, where did you have the FF Teams losing?
Had Louisville losing in the Ship to Miami
Witchita State to Ole Miss in S16
Michigan to VCU in the "third" round
Syracuse to IU in the S16.
I've got L'ville over Michigan in the finals. Other two final four (OSU and Miami).
Same with championship game. Just checked and I've won the pool for my small money one. Had Dook winning over Indiana in big money and have 0/4 FF teams. Woof
I win if Michigan beats the Cuse and come in second otherwise. 100+ people in the pool.
This was my worst bracket ever, I had GeorgeClown in my FF. At least I went out on a limb and picked Louisville to win it all.
I win my office bracket by a game (10 pts). Bracket came down to Michigan or Florida today (I had Michigan), and everyone had Lousiville or a team that is already gone, so it's over.
It is the business walk of the biggest, baddest bear in the national park happening upon an abandoned picnic.
