Maybe now that baseball is winding down a season thread will work..
And a fun-fact I read today, apparently Garcon gets a bonus for each game he's active, which is 15,500 per game.. While that's not big compared to his overall deal, at least we know there is some incentive to come back sooner than later
I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie
Also, anyone have an idea of how the TE distribution is going to go Sunday? I would assume Paul and Paulsen gets more of the snaps on Sunday with just a sprinkling of Cooley to get him integrated a bit, but other people think he'll be more involved than that
I feel way safer with Paulsen than Niles.
paulsen is the TE griffin needs. knows where to sit in a zone and when to help out his qb.
I think we all agree Niles Paul is not adjusting the way the Shanahans hoped.. In fact, if Cooley looks good the next few weeks, I wouldn't mind cutting Paul in exchange for another young TE we want a closer look at
And yeah, paulsen has been a help to RG3, he just doesn't have the ability to do what 90% of other TE can do athletically which frustrates me
Niles has become a really good ST guy though. Im willing to hold out and give him some time. I think he's got potential to be a pretty good receiver there.
I like Niles Paul too though I do agree that he isn't progressing as fast as we would like.
If London can't go this weekend I just may weep. It just wouldn't be the same without him.
It's not a question of motivating Garcon to pay when hurt, he is injured and that is a big difference. Personally I'd be surprised if we see him play before December, if then. He may require surgery.
This is too bad. Without all these season ending injuries this team could have put up a pretty good season despite theiir obvious holes. Now they are treading water and I don't see much better than 7-9.
They made it sound like yesterday on the radio that it's really bad for Garcon. Like, he can't even walk bad. The said the first part of coming back will be him just sitting in a chair catching balls.
Who is this 90% you speak of?
Let's be honest, outside of his ST's contributions, Niles Paul is a complete turd.
Yes ^ .
Trade deadline ends Tuesday. Would you trade a 4th rd pick for Mike Jenkins (Cowboys)? I probably would...though Jerry would be dumb to trade in-division. Per John Clayton:
Jenkins is an interesting option for a team needing a corner. A former first-round pick, Jenkins plays behind Brandon Carr, Morris Claiborne and Orlando Scandrick. Over the past three weeks, he's been on the field for only 23 defensive snaps. Getting a fourth-round pick for him would be solid deal for Jerry Jones.
After Tuesday, though, the market closes.

No, I wouldn't trade anything for Mike Jenkins.
not even with HOF Raheem Morris coaching him up? ha...in terms of this year, I'd probably just start Crawford and at the very least give him some experience. There is clearly no viable alternative/solution this year for the secondary.
When was the last time a meaningful trade was made midseason? Players being floated are Tim Tebow and maybe Steven Jackson. Tebow's awful and Jackson could be useful for a contender, but he's clearly past his prime. Also, I really don't think you can find players better than what we have at TE or DB.
Who cares about this season? We should be talking nothing but draft.
No, let's not trade away draft picks for an irrelevant season (this year)
Yeah but if we can get a stud ST player out of our 3rd tight end I have no problem with it. The problem is when Paul actually gets on the field in non goal line situations
2nd Round, 50th overall:
Washington Redskins: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
The Redskins are really hurting for cornerback depth, and it'll only get worse after the 2013 season when Josh Wilson will be a free agent and DeAngelo Hall will be due $9 million in a contract year.
3rd Round, 82nd overall:
Washington Redskins: Matt Elam, S, Florida
The Redskins absolutely need to do something about the safety position. Eli Manning just needed two plays to score the game-winning touchdown.
Fine by me.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
Keeping in mind the $18 million cap hit we'll take, I'm sure there's a way to restructure contracts and release some deadwood to try and pull in one or two of the names listed in the link here: http://www.footballsfuture.com/2013/fa/db.html
Jairus Byrd? Brent Grimes? Dashon Goldson? Quentin Jammer? Maybe just one of those guys, 2 DBs in the Draft, and hope Merriweather is the answer at the SS spot.
I also want a shiny toy for RGIII from this link, since the Garcon I got for Christmas doesn't have all the right batteries yet.
Hogie loves Amendola. Bowe/Jennings/Mike Wallace are shinier. Welker seems like he'll want too much. But did SOMEONE SAY TRICK PLAYS WITH RGIII AND JOSHUA CRIBBS?!?

Same thing, but for 2014. An easier year, imo, for resignings. Maybe even a year to try and work out extensions with your 2015 crop (aka, definitely Kerrigan and maybe Hank or Jarvis Jenkins). With the lull in resigning necessities, no more cap penalties borne of collusion, and no 1st round pick (the 2nd first-rounder to St. Louis), this will be an irresistible year for Danny to make it rain on Percy Harvin or Hakeem Nicks.
London Fletcher LB UFA ($7.25 million cap hit in 2013; REALLY need one of the younger guys to step up by 2014)
Perry Riley LB UFA (Coming off a really cheap rookie contract...hopefully Riley can replace Fletcher)
Josh Morgan WR UFA (if he performs this year and next...if not, GTFO, Josh)
Reed Doughty S UFA
Santana Moss WR UFA
Josh Wilson CB UFA
A collective "Ehhhh..." if we don't resign these guys, particularly if we replace them with younger, cheaper equivalents (Moss and Wilson aren't making pennies, unlike DWST).
Tier Everyone Else
Mario Addison DT RFA
Dezmon Briscoe WR UFA Washington
Jordan Pugh CB UFA Washington
Doug Worthington DT RFA

Who are potential FAs?
Bowe is ours to have I'm assuming?
I need a list
“Route 1, where everybody meets.” ~Nick Faust #5
Check the WR link in my first post. Bowe/Jennings/Mike Wallace/Wes Welker/Amendola/Cribbs seem like the biggest options.
Fuuuuuuck free agent WRs. It's not a coincidence that almost all WRs are diva douchebags. Name all the WR free agents who worked out with a new team.
On another note, Kiper actually has Robert Woods rated as his 5th best junior WR right now.
VJax is doing well so far in Tampa with an inferior QB to what he would have had in Washington. It's possible, but you can also get Brandon Lloyd-ed.
Need to focus on the secondary in the Draft, make it at least competent. Don't need elite, but "not worst in the league" is a good goal. Love to snag an ILB and a big WR in the 4th and 5, too. Try to find 2 guys out of Perry Riley/Keenan Robinson/whoever that can man the 2 ILB spots when Fletcher eventually leaves.
Is there any way to steal Ryan Clady (UFA this offseason) from the Broncos? Shanny drafted him, and you could move Trent Williams back to his college position at RT. Clady/Williams would be absolutely disgusting for RGIII and Alf.
Dream FA list would be Clady at LT, Cribbs for gadget-y plays, and Jairus Byrd at FS. Draft a cornerback, a safety, a WR, and an ILB, and it's splooge city.
