This game is complete domination. Is this Mexican team supposed to have any decent players on it, or is it just a filler squad?
yeah this is a demolition. We are bigger, faster, stronger, and more skilled.
I'm not a expert but they have a bunch of guys who are regular starters for there club team and have played for the full national team. Granted many played during the Copa America when the A team was in the Gold Cup. But Marco Fabian and Nelson Calderon are two talked about moving to the EPL. The LB is Miguel Ponce who is the regular starer for Chivas and was born in the US and many were hoping he would chose the US. I think this would be considered a pretty good representation of the top u23 for Mexico.

Not watching the game, but standard disclaimer of never making too big an assumption of future success based on any youth team result, even at the U-23 level. Look at some of the turds that made the 2000 team that went to the medal round (I think, maybe it was just the quarters), and then look at some of the players on the 2004 team that didn't even qualify.
I understand what you are saying but the U-23 is a little more telling than the other youth tournaments. The 2000 team that went to the Semi's at the Olympics was pretty solid roster wise but yes there are some guys who did nothing but the 2000 team had Tim Howard, Brad Freidel, Landon Donovan, John O'Brien, Josh Wolff, Ben Olsen, Danny Califf, Conor Casey, Chris Armas, Jeff Agoos, and Frankie Hejduk. Yes the over age players change the equation but that is a lot of caps between those player
That was basically Mexico's best team minus Gio and Vela. And we curb-stomped them, while missing some of our best players as well. This was a great result.
I watched the middle third of the game and we just did whatever we wanted. Like someone said, bigger, stronger, faster and more skilled. I figured since we had quite a few national team guys on the team and I didn't see the likes of dos Santos or Vela for Mexico, perhaps it wasn't true gauge of the where the teams are at. Surprised to hear that was Mexico's top squad minus the above mentioned players (they are pretty good and would have made a difference).
I know this is late but WTF was with our jerseys yesterday they looked terrible.
Get used to them for the next two years. Well, that and what look to be some hideous red and white hooped jerseys.
was referring to the apparent criticism the home fans are showing jozy's coach as reported below:
Any news on US Players in Europe ?
MARYLAND. The area they’re now calling the DMV—D.C./Maryland/Northern Virginia—might be the country’s richest talent mine.
Adu is the captain of our Olympic qualifying team!
Caleb Porter has finalized his 20-man U.S. roster for the Olympic qualifying tournament.
He should be. He has ridiculous international experience at this level. Perry Kitchen vice-captain, btw. ZIPS!
Seems like a sign that his attitude has improved.
He's always been good at the youth levels. It's club ball especially where he's run into issues. Like Paul said, this should have been a no-brainer.
U23s against Cuba tonight! 9pm!
As of this morning my down payment has been received and I'm going to Brazil with jburd on that third plane.
