Pretty much the opposite of what Buck said about Jurrjens' first start, which on paper looked pretty good.
I'd rather be patient. Let him stay down in AA or AAA, work on his slider, get some innings under his belt. Remember how DOMINANT Matusz was in the minors? How about Jake? Please stop rushing these guys.
If the guy develops a third plus pitch, you have to bring him up this year. Having both him and Bundy in the minors right now is freaking amazing. Arrieta better get his shit together.
"roomers are for bitches and bitches get fucked up."
He's not being rushed.
Arrieta made 11 starts at Bowie and 28 starts at Norfolk before his first call-up.
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
Bowie's skipper, or at least Steve M., are suggesting/implying he will be in Baltimore very soon.
Brian Matusz was 15-14 with a 4.37 ERA in his first 40 starts at the major league level. Let's not act like "rushing him" was the problem.
By mid-season. That's not rushing him if he is ready. He very nearly pitched in Baltimore last September.
"Rushing" guys was not the issue with any of the cavalry.
Some good ratios there.
Wait so Bklyn are you a Nats fan or a Yankees fan? Having two teams is very Nats, but I'd think most New Yorkers only have one.
Be interesting to see if davis can maintain that ratio. If he can keep the walks up then yeah...
Tillman did his job last night, but we really need to start seeing our starters get through at least 6.
He's been good at laying off balls so far, so as long as that continues he'll draw walks.
I've been really happy with that. I will say I'd like to see McLouth take more pitches early in the game. I know he loves to swing at the first pitch fastball, but when you are batting leadoff, it helps to see a bunch of pitches and give the guys behind you a good read on the pitcher. This is something Brob was great at during his prime.
He won't be able to maintain that pace, but he will definitely draw a career high number of walks because he is becoming a hitter that pitchers don't want to face, and if he continues to maintain his approach at the plate, I think he can cut 20-30 Ks off of his 2012 total when it is all said and done.
Isn't he almost back on the mound? I know he would have to build up his innings but he was throwing really well in the spring.
He's going to be pitched around too so his walk total should go up.
I'll be at the game tomorrow. Girardi has said that they are just skipping Nova/Hughes, so CC/Kuroda/Pettitte are set for the weekend.
NYCTerp05: i guarantee you my child won't turn out gay
Pitchers have thrown the 7th lowest(37.2) % of pitches in the zone to Davis. He is swinging at 77% of pitches in the zone and only 24.7% out of the zone. Those are all very nice numbers.
Another interesting stat; Nate McLouth swung and missed at a ball in the zone for the first time last night. The number was about 40. Only Jacoby Ellsbury had gone longer.
He's a swing guy at best, no matter how well he's throwing.
I've never been all that high on him, but you can't argue with the results over the past year. The guy just keeps defying expecations. Until that changes, I'll keep running him out there.
Radar looking really good right now for baseball tonight. The back edge of the rain is sweeping through here now and actually appears to be rapidly approaching NYC.
If you are making a permanent change (Arrieta, for instance) I'm going with Gausman. If you need a guy for a spot start, or to take 3 turns because of a minor injury to someone, I'd pick Johnson.
The picture of Clark is hilarious. He looks like the dude from Homeland.
