I don't mind normal weekday games as it provides a nice distraction but OD is a dagger. I don't understand why the Rays are having another day game on Thursday, are they trying to have a lower attendance for 2013?
Esquivel is a little stunning.
Steve Melewski @masnSteve 3m
Among 8 players released from O's minors today are Ps Jaime Esquivel, Pat Egan, Chase Johnson and OFs Jeremy Nowak, & Chris Pettit.
Also released were IF Chris Wade, OF Will Howard and OF Buddy Sosnoskie. That is 22 minor league players released since March 21
Egan was a Rule 5 pick by Milwaukee in Dec, 2010 but was returned to O's. Esquivel got overslot bonus of 225-K in round 28 of 2010 draft.
I'm getting in early and/or leaving early for Tuesday, but didn't realize the other two early season day games. Huge dagger

Mark it down, August 18th Bowie Baysox are giving away a Manny Machado Garden Gnome to the first 1000 fans.
I just texted my friend and wrote the phrase "I'm gonna go apenuts" without even thinking about it. He's definitely not gonna know wtf is going on since he has absolutely no reason to know about that one.
That is pretty awesome. The Orioles have never mined their Browns roots very well, its a great way to expand the promotional calendar. George Sisler tshirt Tuesday anyone?
I'd rather they go turn of the century Orioles over St. Louis Browns.
Dan Connolly @danconnollysun 25s
Brian Roberts will be batting ninth for Opening Day and the time being
Dan Connolly @danconnollysun 1m
Roberts says he doesn't care where he is batting so long as in lineup. Its a natural progression as he gets older, to drop in lineup
Said he wont change anything from batting 1st to 9th. Except he's going to try to hit more homers. Then he laughed. Yes, he was joking
Roberts cracked several jokes during interview. Obviously much more relaxed than in last couple Marchs.
Literally five minutes ago, I saw a commercial for Grape-Nuts on TV and thought of that for the first time in months.
Wee Willie Keeler t-shirts anyone?
Heyman picks us first, Scott Miller picks us 2nd. Everyone else at CBS picks us either fourth or last. Heyman picks Showalter as MOY.

Can we get an update on who is left fighting for roster spots/roles? Off the top of my head, it seems:
1) 5th starter - Arrietta leads Matusz but no winner named by Buck
2) Flaherty likely to make the roster in Betemit's absence
3) Pearce and CoJack still battling for one spot
4) McFarland, Matusz and Hendrickson (obviously longshot) battling for LH bullpen spot
do you guys like B-Rob batting 9th?
i still think he can be legit leadoff hitter like he was.
The turn of the century Orioles were godawful, and moved to NY after just 2 years. They are now the fucking Yankees!!!
MUCH better were the 1890s three-peat NL Orioles with Hanlon, Keeler, McGraw, et al.
I like it.
Batting order bubblewrap for him; plus, we have other good options at the top.. Kakes, if healthy, for one.
Markakis is our best leadoff hitter. The question is whether Roberts should bat 2nd or ninth. He still could bat 2nd against LH though I think McLouth will start the season there.
I actually like this move now. If he started at leadoff or 2nd to start the year and performed badly it'd be a story that the O's are moving him down. I don't think it's a coincidence they announced it on a Friday.
good thing is it's not permanent ... if b-rob gets going they'll move him up.
my bro loves it, again, i think markakis would be better suited at 2 with that OBP. if b-rob's speed is back, man that's tempting to put him back at his home.
Accidentally downvoted this post when quoting. I'll up some of your previous posts.
1 - Arrieta is pretty much a lock as the 5th starter.
2 - Flaherty is pretty much a lock
3 - I'd be shocked if Pearce didn't make the team.
4 - I have a feeling both Matusz and McFarland make the team for OD with Tillman starting on the DL. I'm not sure who they'd demote if they haven't made a trade by the time Tillman's start comes around.
I disagree. Markakis played well at leadoff down the stretch for us, but I'd much rather him bat 2nd.
I don't like batting Roberts 9th. Bat him at leadoff and then if he reverts to battered/busted Roberts, then drop him to 9th and move everyone else up 1.
Roberts at LO as a SH is such an advantage - not to mention his speed for Markakis and opening up that hole between 2nd and 1st (I realize he's not AS speedy as he once was).
See the NFL vs MLBPA discussion for your answer. 24 hours between starts.
Then Tampa should start their season on Monday instead of Tuesday. I know they don't have to worry about rainouts with the dome. Plus they'd get a day off early in the year.
yeah the day game thursday thing is actually our fault. I was going to bitch about it and then realized why it was the way it was
Yeah but McGraw orchestrated the move of the Orioles to NY because he hated Ban Johnson
