@JasonLaCanfora: Sense among the coaches there, who have not received a formal briefing, is that RGIII will be out much if not all of the offseason...
@JasonLaCanfora: Andrews may end up having to repair multiple ligaments
JAMES ANDREWS LIED RG3 DIED
He may be out all off-season? I would have never guessed.

Dr. Van Damme says LCL and partial ACL. Ready to go Week 4. Lock it up.
PUP list, week 7 is my guess
Chick Hernandez @CHICKatCSN
Team source tells me RGIII will have surgery tomorrow to repair torn LCL. They can't tell right now if the tear is completely off the bone.
Team source also says they will check the ACL which suffered a previous tear in 2009. The LCL appears to be worse than first MRI suggested.
OK, now I'll say that the other full tear is the MCL. Partial ACL. Lock it up.
Funny how we're all going around speculating this and that, but the bottom line is his knee is a freaking disaster right now. So awesome.
We mortgaged our entire future for one player then exercised no discretion whatsoever in sending him out there to be literally shredded. Such a Redskins thing to do.
This would have never happened with Rizzo running things.
David Elfin @davidelfin
I'm hearing MRI didn't show ACL tear 4 @RGIII so fingers crossed Wed scope will only show further damage to LCL which would be major relief.
@Russellmania980: Dr. Michael Kaplan of @ESPN tells @ESPNRadio980 "My bet is ACL/LCL combo. Unlikely isolated. Big deal either way." Suggests 9-12 mos.
And then some doc on the Junkies said he thought it was a lock that it was the MCL.
Place your bets. RGKnee Pool!
He should be healthy enough to carry the blocking dummies onto the field for OTAs
Russell has been pushing the "he's out forever I knew this would happen" shtick since it happened. I think he's actually hoping that's the case.
Clarification. Team source tells me the LCL looks worse than the original injury vs Ravens. Surgery tomorrow on the LCL, and ACL if it needs
"James C. Dreese, a doctor for University of Maryland athletic teams, said an LCL tear requires a longer rehabilitation process than an ACL tear. Dreese, who has no specific knowledge of Griffin’s injury, said an LCL tear could keep Griffin out for eight to 12 months.
The length of the rehabilitation depends on whether the ligament can be repaired surgically, or requires a more extensive reconstruction using a graft from another part of the body or a cadaver. An ACL typically requires a six- to eight-month rehabilitation.
“When the collateral ligaments are involved,” Dreese said, “the concern in the long term is that controlling the rotational component of the knee can be more difficult.”
Dreese also said LCL tears are usually accompanied by injuries to one of the cruciate ligaments — the ACL or PCL (posterior cruciate ligament). However, he said if there is an ACL tear, in addition to the LCL tear, it would not necessarily lengthen Griffin’s rehab."
Redskins quarterback has a torn LCL in his right knee and will undergo surgery in the coming days. When they perform the surgery, doctors also will determine whether Griffins ACL has been damaged as well.
I honestly don't care about the immediate recovery. I'm more concerned that the knee will ALWAYS be an issue. One good hit and it's falling to pieces.
There was this doc on 106.7 saying that that would not be a problem (see AP)
Wow. This is NOT roomy!
He was probably already well fucked prior to it, but we were six minutes away from avoiding being Redskins again. I mean, the fact that he was even out there was Redskins, but we almost got away with one. Almost slipped one by. Aaaaaaand, no. He is fucked forever, and so are we.

The right hit to any athlete in the world could tear knee ligaments. People need to stop acting like he is ruined forever
i cant wait till 2014 season, its going to be cool
we mortgaged the day,
for he was the chosen one,
curse of the Redskins
Dan Hellie @DanHellie
Surgeon who worked/trained w/ Dr. Andrews told me chances of RG3 getting reconstructive ACL surgery in addition to LCL is close to 100%
Dan Hellie @DanHellie
Says LCL surgery w/out ACL almost never happens... also, The LCL/ACL recovery /rehab is tougher than Adrian Peterson's ACL/MCL..
