Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Thanks to the fact that I am traveling to NY, I can actually read this thread now. I am glad to see I am not the only old pervert...I mean the only one who appreciates a good women's athletic competition. Also loved the floyd choice as well

That was sick until he decided to pretend like he was driving a car on the dismount
btw - I think Bob Costas has his best hair piece in about 15 years. But now it look too good for a 60 year old so he just can't get it right..
Nancy Pelosi - The Gift that Keeps on Giving..
these guys are cruising in the 1500
Centrowitz went to school in the same county as me. He is dirty.
dammit he came in 4th
great finish by Manzano! silver baby!
How is that guy not dead?!
i guess i was hoping Costas was going to show us a weight lifter getting his neck broken?
lol @ mcdonald's being the official restaurant
Was hoping for a broken limb but figured that was too good to be true
It's amazing that we had only 7 golds in women's gymnastics ever entering these games and we just won 3 like it was nothing to us. And it should have easily been 4.
I assumed he was going to shit himself or possibly rip his arms off like in the old SNL skit
Watching Sportscenter for the time in a whole and I'd forgotten how funny/pointless it is to see them try and do Olympic highlights with a bunch of still photos.
They interrupted reports from Jets training camp to talk about the Olympics?
It's a lot harder to assign Pedro Gomez to stalk someone with the security they have at the village.
I've basically avoided ESPN for the last 10 days in order to avoid spoilers. It's been really refreshing to avoid the early pre-season NFL tripe.
On a different note, the splash-o-meter might be the dumbest thing in the history of things.
Wow. Chinese dude only got silver in the men's 3m springboard. Way to dedicate your entire life to something and fail, dude.
NBC has forced me to avoid nearly all media to the point that I didn't even THINK to look at twitter after the Bernadina catch tonight until half and hour after it happened.

If they used a green triangle, yellow square, and red triangle to rate the splashes, THAT would be the dumbest thing in the history of things.
Well that describes pretty much the vast majority of people in the Olympics who don't get gold
Some medal events today with their live streaming times (in EST)
Women's Flyweight Semifinals- Marlen Esparza vs China's Canan Ren 8:30 AM
Women's Middleweight Semifinals- Claressa Shields vs Kazakhstan's Marina Volnova 9:30 AM
Women's 400m Hurdles 3:45 PM
Women's 200m- 4:00 PM
Women's Beach Volleyball- USA vs USA- 4:00 PM
Men's 110m Hurdles- 4:15 PM
Basically anything worth a damn will be airing primetime unless you want to watch sailing and revel in the glory like that dude in the link keegs posted a couple days ago or something.
Tonight's Prime Time Coverage
NOTE: Tonight will only be airing from 8:00-11:08 due to the preview of Matthew Perry's new show "Go On" airing after
Women's Diving Platform Qualifying- you know the drill by now, China is good and we aren't.
Men's Volleyball Quarterfinal- United States vs. Italy- Italy was 3-2 in Pool A while USA was 4-1 in a more difficult Pool B. It will still be a very difficult match for the United States but I'd give them the edge in this match. Looking ahead, the winner plays the winner of Brazil-Argentina.
Women's Beach Volleyball Final- The two US teams face off for pride, we get both the gold and silver in this event. Get to see if the best pairing in history will pull off three golds in a row or if April Ross and Jennifer Kesey will unseat them.
Track and Field
Women's Long Jump- American Brittney Reese has the best jump of the season by far at 7.23m, but you never know. This will probably get that weird highlight-type coverage scattered throughout.
Women's 400m Hurdles- American record holder Lashinda Demus is the Amerian's best shot and she coasted to a 54.08 in the semifinals. Russia's top qualifier Natalya Antyukh ran the fastest times in both Round 1 and the semifinals and you'll also need to keep an eye out for the Russian Zuzana Hejnova. Fellow Americans T'Erea Brown and Georganne Moline have run personal bests already in this event but would need Jamaican Kaliese Spencer or one of the other aforementioned runners to not perform their absolute best to have a chance at the podium.
Women's 200m- Allyson Felix is the only gal to break 22 seconds in this event this year but Jamaicans Veronica Campbell-Brown and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Americans Carmerlia Jeter and Sanya Richards-Ross will be fighting to join her on the podium. I don't see the rest of the field having a shot unless they run the race of their lives.
Men's 100m Hurdles- We'll get both the semifinals and the finals today as they will both be run during the evening session. Americans Aries Merritt, Jason Richardson and Jeff Porter have been blazing fast so far this year and there's at least a semi-outside shot at a sweep. If everyone runs their personal/season bests, we actually do get the sweep by one one-hundreth of a second. We'll have to see what happens in the semifinal though first.
