I forget where, but I read somewhere that Kuznetsov was told if he wants to have a chance to play in Sochi, he couldn't leave until after the Olympics. So once again, fuck Russia.
Also, fuck GMGM and Ted, if he wanted to change the look of this team, he could've gone out and gotten Hitchcock last offseason, but I'm guessing Ted didn't want to shell out the money, so they totally half-assed it midseason instead (and of course, on the cheap).
To quote a wise philosopher, the ship be sinkin
I felt like I should have issued an amber alert for myself, just in case
Should have pushed for Carter.
Yea in fairness to Kuznetsov, there was definitely a lot of pressure for him to stay in the KHL if he wanted to play for them in the Olympics. Also, some of his comments would lead one to believe he wasn't exactly chomping at the bit to play for Hunter, said something about "one mistake and you're on the bench" presumably in reference to Orlov.
Historically, that guy has basically been the Canadian Alex Semin. We needed a guy like Richards more than we needed a guy like Carter.

Vogel also thinks pool of possible coaches to choose from is small and new head coach could come possibly in house, mentioning Dean Evason.
God WHY?????? WTF
We all know what is coming...it is easier to accept it...
Remember, this is the man who what Cassidy was a great hire...lol...I will never forgive him for that...
Jackie Robinson isn't dirty. This isn't Pack Pride.
That would be beyond awful. Jesus.
GMGM is the WORST at picking coaches. The first year of Cassidy the team was actually _good_, and having that moron behind the bench probably cost us our series with Tampa. Anyone else remember when he made important power play adjustments at an open practice with journalists and opposing scouts watching?
Is it possible GMGM always goes for rookie head coaches so that he can retain more power than he may be able to with experienced guys?
What's up with Galiev? He had an awesome year in juniors, does he have a shot to crack the 2nd line? I wouldn't assume they'd bring a guy of his skill level up to play with the grinders, but if Semin goes and they don't sign one of the elite wings in FA, does he have a shot?
I'm sure he'll get a look but I doubt very much that he makes the NHL team right now. He needs to develop more physically and work on d. He needs at least a year in the ahl imo.
Crazy enough, some scouts consider him the 5th best forward prospect on his Q team, talk about stacked!
What would be so bad about Evason?
Sounds like Semin is leaning towards leaving and they may make a run at Parise.
I'd take that
Not gonna lie, I'd get cised, but this is all window dressing until they get a 2C.
What am I missing - every practice at Kettler is open to the public and the media watches from a press room right next to the rink. This isn't the NFL. Was it not like that 10 years ago?
They weren't at the time (I don't think Kettler was open back then) and furthermore teams don't make those kinds of major tactical adjustments in public view.
Parise is going to command too many years.
Would they go after a quality defenseman? Or is offense the focus?
Whyno said trade Ovechkin. Grand idea except for that contract and all, but hey!
The defense focus has to be resigning Alzner and trying to get Green at a discount...which would allow you to spend the money/trade for a quality 2nd line center in my opinion
They don't really need to do anything to create that cap space to get a center. Let the 6 free agents go and they'd have like $15 million free. Vokoun is gone. Semin, Knuble and Halpern are likely gone. Aucoin makes no money anyway. Wideman - it just depends on the market. He seems like the perfect Islander. Green can't be signed for much of a discount. Believe his qualifying offer has to be $5 million - which isn't much of a paycut. There are no good free agent centers. 100% chance there's a draft-day trade coming.
The NHL opted out of the cba yesterday too. Wouldn't surprise at all if the cap actually went down next year.
According to cap geek right now they have $19.2 million available, 4 RFAs and 7 UFAs. This also counts Poti ($2.8) so essentialy the caps have $22mil to re-sign Green, Carlson, B, Perreault and add a 2C (hopefully via trade, lol at the free agents as others have said) and hopefully a skilled winger to replace Semin. Only target I saw after a quick glance that I'd want though are Ray Whitney or David Jones.
I've heard rumors that the cap will go up to $69mil as well but then there's probably going to be a lockout this summer so who knows what the hell happens.
