Obviously it depends on the situation but I could see it being useful. If you've got a plodder a base ahead of a speedster on a ball to the gap, just let the tiny guy fly on through.
Could also use it when strategizing GIDP and Sac Flies.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it would happen every game. Man on first, fly ball to the outfield, the batter just goes full speed and can pass the runner with no recourse.
Well run downs as KB mentioned. Say Wieters overturns 3rd and they have him hung up, then Jones goes flying by in the background to score.
Corey Patterson could get a triple in the time it takes Wieters to read the ball and move from first to second.
Is Cpat still in the league?
Well, then you would be out of the base path and both are out.
Not necessarily as you can go out of the straight line base path when rounding a base. If Wieters was in a run down between home and third and close to 3rd, Jones could round wide right past him. Not a likely scenario, but it could happen.
They only call the base paths right half the time anyway. The point still stands it would be chaotic.

Wonder what his WHIP is going to be this year as well.
If he keeps going like this, he might break the OPS meter.
Do we know that it's only a pulled hamstring?

I don't have any "facts" but if Brian felt a pop, I doubt it's only a pull. Probably going on the 60 day DL

I've definitely felt pops when pulling hamstring in the past FWIW. Fingers crossed for good news.
Congrats to all of you going today. I won't attend my first game until Saturday, like a loser.
I'm going to see if I can have Davis sign one of his old baseball cards.
I'm going to see if he will sleep with me
I took that picture outside of Pickles...Opening Day 2011 against the Tigers
Good one from Connolly.
Many of us long-timers in the Camden Yards press box will have a heavy heart Friday, knowing that this Opening Day will go by without us seeing Orioles superfan Tommy Conelius.
The weather is looking even better than expected. Rain will not be an issue. Bring your sunglasses. The only issue in my mind is whether it's a shorts or jeans day. The wind could be a factor both in how it could feel a bit cooler than the temps and also keeping the ball in the yard, though the direction might blow out toward right field at times. Maybe Davis can take aim at the warehouse. Hitting the ball out to left or even center will be tough today.
hahaha....I jacked it off this board when you posted it and its actually my twitter background
