Ryan Adams suspended 25 games for violating drug policy.
Might've dodged a bullet with DiPoto.
Nats didn't extend a QO to E-Jax so I'll be spending another offseason constantly talking about how he'd be a good addition to this team.
I irrationally decided that EJax was an avoided landmine when I saw Wieters take his man card in Sarasota. I honestly think he sucks solely because of that start.
Wieters can destroy a man, he can also rebuild one.
DO NOT WANT.
Why didn't we trade Strop for Haren?
Honestly don't understand how anyone can not want Jackson. 3/30 would be a steal for a soon to be 29 year old with 6 30+ start seasons under his belt. He also has similar peripherals to Anibal Sanchez and will likely cost 80% of what Sanchez will get.

Because now he's a free agent?
jsh- need a breakdown of Law's top 50, asap.
Eh, maybe but how hard is it to deal with playing NL ball for a few innings until you can call up someone after the game?
Those averages factor in a few years in Colorado. He was playing every day and playing well defensively in august when he suddenly became one of the hottest hitters in baseball for what, 10-15 games? He then slowly slide right back to awful at the plate.
If they don't pursue other options, it should tell you that they see schoop in the same light I do, i.e. Help is just a phone call away if this shit doesn't work. I could see timing very similar to Machado if we are in the hunt and trade options don't suit us.
Reynolds played in Arizona, not Colorado.
Someone correct my list if it is wrong, but I think this is the list of players who received qualifying offers around baseball, and thus would not be on my list of players to pursue:
I can't seem to find it- do FA compensatory picks slot before or after the competitive balance lottery picks?
Seattle signed "career middle reliever" Hisashi Iwakuma to a 2/14 contract yesterday with a $7M option for 2015. Speculation out of Seattle is that this may lead them to trade Jason Vargas this off-season. Vargas is entering his final year of arbitration.

So then I'm guessing you'd be against this scenario:
It's 7/25/13. The Os are tied for the 2nd WC and 6 games back in the east. Castilla has not been the solution we hoped for. Flaherty hasnt shown improvement. Schoop has decent numbers in Norfolk. The phillies are 12 games behind the nats, 6 out of the 2nd WC and dealing, for the 2nd straight season, with an injury riddled lineup. Chase utley is in the final year of his deal. Do you push to make that happen?
Chase Utley and Freddy Sanchez should never be mentioned in the same breath. As much as I love Brian Roberts, Utley is a much, much better player than Roberts ever was. Hell, Utley was a 3 WAR player in half a season this year.
Depending on the price tag to acquire him, I'd absolutely pursue him.
Talk to me about drake. I understand pitching depth and not wanting to give it up. I understand the "potential" and that he was a steal in the draft. I don't understand why a 25 yr old AA pitcher w/o plus peripherals is on the 40 man. Isn't his ceiling 5th starter with MRP the much more likely destination?
He was originally added to the 40-man roster last off-season because he was a rule-5 candidate and they wanted to keep him. Then he was hurt, and basically had a lost season.
I think he's expendable at this point if they need the 40-man spot, and he would probably clear waivers because nobody else is going to use a 40-man spot on him at this point in the off-season.
He has little value at the corners. If he could play 2nd with that pop, he's worth a look. But he is almost betemit bad at 2b. He got a pretty goid look in sept/oct with some regular time at 2b. He cost us a few DPs and his range was a minus. He is not the solution, IMO.
I'm not on that train.
To reset everything- here is the current 40-man roster:

RHP Steve Johnson
LHP Brian Matusz
RHP Darren O'Day
LHP Troy Patton
RHP Stu Pomeranz
RHP Pedro Strop
RHP Chris Tillman
LHP Tsuyoshi Wada
C Luis Exposito
C Taylor Teagarden

1B/OF Steve Pearce

39 guys. Andino, Casilla, Mahoney, Pearce, Quintanilla, Exposito, Teagarden, Clark, and Drake are all probably potential DFA candidates depending on what direction DD heads.
Jesus. No coffee yet, I guess. I have no idea where my brain was. Wtf?
Arizona is a nice place to hit too, but it's not Colorado.
