I just don't see a spot on the roster for him. He was just not very good last year and he was given lots of playing time to try and prove himself. They think Casilla does a few things (speed/bunting/defense) better than Andino and the writing was on the wall when that happened.
Andino got his chance. He was a classic "let him play himself off the roster" guy. And he did. I will never do anything but root for him though. The liner off the wall in Arlington and 162 are great, great Oriole memories.
Quite possibly. I see casilla as a slightly faster Andino but possibly without the clubhouse chemistry. If we are going to upgrade the position, let's upgrade it. Maybe casilla turns out to be more mclouth than he does to be Chavez but at this point, I'm not betting the house on that.
Still plenty of time for that.
Yeah, I guess that's my issue. I have a soft spot for him and he can fill in admirably on the defensive side at 2b, ss and 3b. If we are going to upgrade the roster, I'm all for it. But casilla feel much closer to a lateral move than an upgrade. I don't just want a slight improvement.
It's definitely closer to a lateral move than a true upgrade, but the off-season is still young.
Agree. Just nervous on options. I liked all 3 pacific rim options but hearing no noise on that front scares me. As you know, I have been very bullish on schoop but I still want options. I dream of us being in the hunt in late July with the phillies again floundering and a healthy chase utley coming our way for arrieta and Avery or robinson or nick D or Bridwell. (have you noticed a theme in my fantasy trades?)
Tried to up vote 2x. Got the "oops, that's not right!"
Have to take that as a sign from a higher power.

My boy Dino is gone to Seattle. He's gonna enjoy it up there I have no doubt. Gonna miss a fellow goon though. But it's the business.
Is that how quotes work now?
FYI, they've talked about the O's for probably a good 10 minutes on MLB Tonight. Replay at 8pm.
yanks re-sign kuroda
1/15 for Kuroda.
I'm telling you right now that this move is Terrible for chemistry.

Who is going to put a bird on it with AJ (another brotha)
Way to exaggerate it and miss the point.
Andino's OBP with the Os - .302
Casilla's career OBP - .305
OPS .620 vs .639
Age 28 vs 29
Is there a huge difference? Is casilla going to secure 2b and make the difference between us making the playoffs or not?
I'm fine with the move as long as there is a subsequent upgrade to follow.
Say what you want about andinos 2012 season but he was a solid contributor in 2011. .266 babip this past season.
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
Thank god he's gone.
Go away, KA!
Not THAT far off from his career .288 BABIP. He had a couple good stretches in 2011, notably in September obviously.
I will always cherish Andino's night at the movies and his heroics against the Red Sox. It sounds like we literally got nothing in this trade, but who cares? We dumped Andino's salary, helped clear up the logjam at second base and purchased a lottery ticket on a guy with some tools who hasn't put it all together. I remember a lot of complaints about acquiring Chris Davis, too. We know what Andino definitely is at this point. We think we know what Robinson is, but the book isn't completely written on him yet.
