day off Thursday, wherein we talk about how awesome Bryce and Boss Hoss Ross are, and gnash our teeth and rend our garments about Ryan Zimmerman.
much like Kafka's "Metamorphosis," we get the climax of this series right at the very start. Let's not allow those pesky Mets to metaphorically embed apples into our horrific exoskeletons -- lets take at least two.
Friday 7:10 PM
Stephen Strasburg vs Matt Harvey
Saturday 3:05 PM
Gio Gonzalez vs Jeremy Hefner
Sunday 1:10 PM
Jordan Zimmermann vs Dillon Gee

I'll be there for Friday and Sunday. Lets just sweep these kids.
Just watch how much better Harvey is than Strasburg
Good luck Keegs! Hi!
being so much better by losing the matchup?
What's the forecast for Denver tomorrow? If that game gets called, they can skip Hefner, which would mean we face Niese-Harvey-Gee. Ugh. Niese owns us. Want no part of him.
If these probables stick, I'll go W-W-L.
I think Strasburg is due for one of those dominant starts. He owns the Mets and pitched two of his best games of the year there last year. Also think Harvey is due for an outing where he looks human. Let's not forget his three starts have come against awful lineups: Padres w/o Headley/Phillies/Twins. Yes, the Phillies are awful. Hefner is garbage and Gio will probably bounce back. I'll say loss Sunday only because Gee is a notorious Nats killer.
Harvey vs Harper is fap-worthy
The other interesting thing here will be if the Mets play and lose tomorrow. Pretty crazy road trip for them. Multiple games snowed out, etc. If they get swept by the Rox and have to come home and play the Nats knowing they're getting Stras/Gio/Zim, they might be pretty worn out.
I feel like I can add something since I watch most of Harvey's starts, so I'll add to ugw's point about the questionable line-ups. If he has one issue at this point in his career, it's probably fastball command. Not being wild, but just missing spots and occasionally leaving pitches where they can be hit. The thing is he has good enough pure stuff that he can get away with those mistakes often, especially against the lineups he has faced. The bomb he gave up to Morneau was actually a great pitch, but the Twins missed some of his mistakes. It also wouldn't surprise me if they sent him home tomorrow and he pitched Friday regardless of what happens tomorrow, and then Niese pitched Saturday if they do get snowed out again.
We actually faced him last year. Don't think Harper got a hit. I was at the game. I think we won 2-0. Desmond and Zim hit solo homers off him. He was good, not great. We left a ton of runners on IIRC. John Lannan pitched a gem. It was his first start post-Strasburg shutdown.
Strassy in two Citifield starts (both last year, both with me in the house) -
2-0, 13 IP, 0.69 ERA. 6 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 20 (!) K
Didn't Storen almost blow one of those?
Don't think so. First one was really early when Hrod was still dominant. I think his second game there we blew them the fuck out.
I'm trying to remember what happened the game Keegs and I were at. Whomever the closer was at the time almost blew it. Clippard I guess?

Keegs, you're so weird. But you got me to read a Wikipedia article because of your post.
Phil you've never read Metamorphosis!?
It's pretty cool the climax happens in the very first sentence!
God, that seemed like almost every game against the Mets last year. Yet we won almost all of them anyway.
Keegs take all of my upvotes, but more importantly please leave your paypal account number so I can send you endless dollars of cash.
Yeah right, I've read probably the least amount of books of anyone on this board and I've even read that.
That said, odd reference nonetheless. Solid Kafka reference in the original Producers movie, btw.
classlessthug: I have too much on my plate to worry about the fact that my junk intimidates some needle D undergrad.
If Harvey has trouble hitting spots, hopefully Span and Werth can make him throw a lot of pitches for the rest of the lineup to see.
I'm going to be Zim's lone defender. He's going to get through this. I decided to support this Wahoo several years ago...I've come too far to turn on him now. Just keep calling him a lost cause.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
Hogie getting dangerously close to UGW 'ignore" status for me...
BTW show yourself ColtsFan...
Lannan 1.2 IP 6 ER 0 Ks...
