7/31/10: Ryan Zimmerman crushes a three-run, walk-off home run to deep center to give the Nationals a 7-5 win
bang zoom sound the subhorn
This is my WW2 submarine dive horn that was featured in the New Years video. These horns were either gray or light green such as this one is. In US Navy terms this is known as an H9 type and is dated 1942. This horn is really called a Klaxon.
Nope. ..nor are the Yankees.
6/100M with a 24M option
Also full no trade clause
Wow, can't believe he agreed to under 17 per. I guess it's a handshake agreement that if Zim can play, that option will be picked up.
He'd have gotten the no-trade about 1.5 years into the deal anyway via 10-5 rights (assuming the NTC starts 2 years from now).

Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
early take is, zimmerman got too much. said 1 competing exec: "seems like they have 2 $100M contracts but no $100M players."
Wut? What exec is that? Alderson?
JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm
Ryan Zimmerman is about: LEADERSHIP, CLASS, CHARACTER and WINNING.....congrats to both him and the Nationals
Definitely a Phillies exec.
LOL. He's conservatively a 5 WAR player (Fangraphs) - if healthy - for the next 6 years (through age 32). He's locked up through his prime. They'll be overpaying the last two years and if he's a Derek Jeter-level disaster at age 35 they can just decline the option.

I don't see why anyone could call this a bad deal. The money isn't huge AND the contract ends when he's 35 (which is like the worst point to be a free agent).
If anything, we got a small hometown discount. Probably in exchange for the no-trade clause.
This news is not official until 286 LOLs at it and reminds everyone that the Nationals are a 76-82 win team.
In 4, 3, 2,....
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
hear zimmerman agreed to $10M personal services deferral, so $10M of $126M won't count as payroll, giving #nats flexibility
Can't wait for the press conference
Damn, Harper not batting against Strasburg today.
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
DeRosa facing Strasburg in live BP: "I didn't need to see this Day 1."
lol @ the rest of baseball
