I would like to encourage everybody to use these next 29 hours to exorcise all past turd Nats-era demons in the Nook Logan!!! thread as we shift into this next phase of Washington baseball history. Use it as a confessionary of sorts. It's the only way we can win.
yeah that's what i was thinking.
by the way i hope you all know strasburg is going to be on the postseason roster and come in to either start a game or come in to pitch a few innings. it's gonna be like a WWE show.
the tbs cameras show a limo pull up w/ curly dub plates. door opens
Dick Stockton: oh my god who is it? who is the mystery man? who could it be? we'll find out in the 7th.
music hits ...
Dick Stockton: oh my god it's strasburg! it's strasburg! strasburg is in the building! fire and brimstone. from hell and back. it's stephen strasburg, oh my god. and he shuts down the cards in order. it's strasburg!
In this link, Ben Bernanke writes a column about Washington baseball for the Wall Street Journal.
The Fed chairman says Washington should learn from the Nationals' twin focus on statistics and intangibles.
he sweats the nats. hardcore.
It's a pity that the rosters aren't slightly bigger, because I'd totally keep Strasburg on the roster simply to fuck with the opposing manager's head. How freaked out would Matheny get if suddenly Strasburg got up and started warming in the bullpen in the 7th? Woudln't even matter if he got in the game.
What do we think the playoff roster looks like? 24 are pretty obvious, but I'm not totally sure where they go with the 25th.
Position players (13):
Garcia, Lannan and Brown would be the candidates for #25, but you have to think Garcia has the edge.
Garcia has to make it.
just got tix for Game 3! planning to stay in DC and pick up SRO thurs morning at the box office for game 4.
Are we tailgating before Wednesday's game? Got to right?
i'm not sure since I'll be driving down with my good buddy, Mizzou grad and STL fan and fellow NYC resident. We then have to meet up with a former coworker Braves fan who bought game 3 tix and unloaded them to me.
If all 4 teams still play that day, I'm guessing we'll be one of the two middle games - 5 PM or 7 PM. Cin/SF at 2 PM, us or OAK/DET at 5 and 7, yanks/O's at 8.
So who is your pick to shine this series?
I'm feeling Morse.
I'll go with Desi.
Think Garcia has to be the choice over DeRosa. Corey Brown is not playing in this series. Be serious. That's what Bernadina is for. And Lannan would be a waste against a right-handed heavy lineup. If they really, really want to keep DeRosa as a bench bat then you cut Gorzelanny. Against a team this good offensively I can't see that happening.
Ladson already said DeRosa is out.
Ladson also said Lannan is out. So looks like the standard 24 + Garcia.
Can't wait until Ladson predicts a no-hitter for Gio in Game One. Pretty good schtick! Clown.
Rotation is as PD reported: Wainwright, Garcia, Carpenter for Game 3, then Lohse and Wainwright if needed. #Cardinals #NLDS #STLCards
So it is Gio-Wainwright and JZimm-Garcia. The question is if it's EJax or Det going game 3.
Christian Garcia is on the premises, which ends that non-mystery.
arent a lot of non-rostered guys going to be "on the premises?"
Dunno if they'd make the away trips. They're certainly going to be around for the home games.
Ejax Game 3, Detwiler Game 4
You gotta have at least 1 guy on the road in case there's an injury, doesn't really hurt anything.
I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie
Davey got a cortisone shot. Expect the best managing in baseball history.
