WE WANT PLAYOFFS CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!!
I'm going Saturday night, Rangers-Islanders on the island. Should be a pretty awesome atmosphere. Can't remember the last time they had a meaningful matchup.
There will be some intense games from here on out. That will be a good one to see.
OBTW, Pens clinch their Division.
You should start using a new picture.
"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."
The Devils are so hard to watch right now. That first period last night was easily the worst hockey I've seen in a while. Kovy needs to get back on the ice ASAP.
"The drummer for Maryland's pep band just freaked out: 'They're trying to slow the game down,' he screamed. 'Get up on them, get up on them.
It's so sad. I'm actually very excited for the game tonight. This means it's an absolute guaranteed loss. I hate being excited for my team, whatever the sport.
NHL Fans from 1994 until now say "Yes, we know."
Not exactly the NHL, but my Elis are in the Frozen Four and on ESPN2 at 4:30. Boola, Boola.
Pens go tonight.
WOOOOOOOO!!! OMG 8-1-1 IN THE LAST 10
I need to buy a Jussi Jokinen and/or Douglas Murray Jersey ASAP. Man, these new guys have looked awesome.
Ott is one of my favorite non-Penguins
I wish I was going. Going to be crazy in the old barn Saturday.
Yup. Glad it's over.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
And now in the championship game -- go Bulldogs!
I have a general hockey question which stemmed from watching Yale's game yesterday, and I'm hoping someone here can answer it for me, since I don't follow the NHL very well. The ESPN2 commentators kept referring to one of the Yale players as an "NHL free agent," which I didn't understand given the NCAA amateurism rules. Does the NHL have something like MLB does where you can draft players but they can opt to go to college? I had no idea to what they were referring and would love if someone could clear that up. Thanks!
Not 100% sure myself, but from what I've heard, after your college career is over, you hit FA. I don't think there are any restrictions either, so good deal if you're a late bloomer I guess.
So I'm guessing the guy they were talking about was a senior

I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie
You are draft eligible from 18-20 in North America. If you get drafted, that NHL team holds your rights until you are ready to go pro, then you sign an entry-level deal.
If you don't get drafted in those 3 years, you become a free agent, and can sign more than a basic entry-level deal. This is how the Caps just signed Nate Schmidt from Minnesota, and signed him for 2 years rather than the standard entry-level 3 year deal. Also how we signed Cam Schilling last year.
Interesting -- I had no idea. Thanks, guys!

I don't follow college hockey much - but it surprises me that these small schools still do so well in hockey. Esp, with B1G playing, etc. I know BC is always good, and Minn, but these schools like Quin, St Cloud St, UMass (Lowell??), etc.
How do they get the players over the name schools? Is it the coaching?
What is Quinnipiac doing?
Can't say for sure, but hockey recruiting is far different than other sports. FWIW, teams like Notre Dame, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Minnesota, etc, hockey is like 3 tops at their school. This is THE sport at St Coud State, North Dakota State, Union, etc., so they get all the money. Like how Hopkins and Loyola can compete with Syracuse, Maryland, UVA, yadda, yadda, yadda in lacrosse. How big of a factor that is, I'm not sure, but it is a factor.
YALE HOCKEY NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!
Sorry, I had to celebrate somewhere.
My boys are putting a whipping on their ass, eh? My Elis are the Champs.
Heck yes we are, Eli!!! BOOLA BOOLA!
