He's been mentioned for the Browns job too. And fuck those ESPN turds for their asswipe sob stories.
It's probably the worst QB situation this side of the Jets, and they play in a division with 2 up and coming playoff teams. The Browns have QB questions and play in a tough division. I'm not sure there's another head coaching vacancy that combines QB issues with a difficult division like the Browns and Cards.
The Browns have major problems without a doubt but they finally have a decent owner who rid them of Junior Lerner and that fat pile of shit Holmgren who mailed it in while collecting mega-bucks.
Two years ago that was the worst division in the history of sports. NFL isn't like college where you can likely assume the long-term strength of your competition.
Yeah, remember when the NFC east was the toughest division in football? Lol.
My dream hire as of now would have to be Mike McCoy. A lot of teams will be after him though.
Definitely not, that's why I'm saying right now. If the Jets and Dolphins both go 11-5 next year then I might look back and say the Bills job, with QB questions, ended up being tougher, or less desirable.
Not sure I'd have cared much a while ago, but Kyle and Haslett may get some interest.
The most ridiculous thing about all of this is Norv will probably get recycled again. IIRC, he got along pretty well with Jerry.
Don't tell GMs that, please. I'm currently trying to fleece some donk teams for a pick or two or a high pick and a starter on defense.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
Recycled as a HC? That would be stunning. I might legitimately give up on my franchise if they hired him as HC this offseason.
Arizona isn't even a bottom 5 job.
There are 5 worse NFL head coaching openings right now?
Arizona is pretty close to bottom 5. I love the defense, but that offense is miles away. Literally every piece outside of Fitzgerald and maybe Floyd is in need of being replaced and the QB situation is one of the worst in the league. As a coach and GM you're going to need to hit on virtually every offensive acquisition to hope to be a playoff team in the three year window you'll get. I don't think there's a worse offensive line in the NFL.
I don't get the they have no line or QB but are good line of reasoning.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
Just to be clear, I'm not saying Arizona is one of the worst jobs in the NFL (although it might be), just among those that have coaching vacancies right now.
Put another way, if I'm Joe Coach, and every team with a vacancy right now offers me their job at the same terms, which jobs do I want? Not want?
the only one for me that would be a DO NOT WANT would be Jacksonville. They have the worst roster in the league and a bunch of bad contracts to dig out from. Throw in the complete lack of fan support and the fact that the few fans they do have are clamoring for one of the worst passers in the history of the modern game and it's a total stay-away.
Bills is a rough job, but a better defensive staff could get something out of that front seven talent. Chiefs have a sprinkling of talent and it's a great city to win in. Philly...well, you'd have to coach in Philly. Panthers have been horribly mismanaged recently but you have a possible franchise QB, but a meddling owner. Cardinals have one of the best skill position players in the league and one of the best front-seven guys in the league in Campbell. Chicago is easily the best job as long as you get to ditch Mike Tice.
Chargers have a QB who's put up numbers in the past. Plus, the division includes 2 teams with essentially no QB, and the division heavyweight has a HOF-er at QB, but a guy with probably only a couple of years left. Unless a HC candidate knows something specific about Rivers (i.e., he's injured), an offensive minded HC probably thinks he can come in and get Rivers straightened out.
Oh yeah, Chargers. Duh. That's a solid roster.
I feel mike tice would be a pretty good college coach if he wanted to go that route.
Pic Sigs are for losers.
JAX has an interesting front office. Seems to be trying to go with an analytical focus. Of course, that may also be a deterrant to some coaches, so who knows.
Hasn't Wannstedt failed in enough places? Some people make great assistants, like Norval and Sad Santa, and just aren't cut out to be head coaches. They can lead very rewarding lives if their egos permit it.
The defense was awful this year. Only a senile Ralph Wilson could make that promotion. Meaning, it's possible.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
We are supposed to feel bad for the children of NFL COACHES!? You mean the kids that get free tickets, sideline passes, and sports gear their entire childhood? We're supposed to feel bad because they have to move?
But they are still owned by the bidwells.
agree about the roster and contracts but the line about lack of fan support is just a parroted talking point
