It'll never happen, but tell me why USC and Enfield don't make a perfect match.
Wouldn't be completely shocking since they just brought in a new AD during the past year. I think his win over UCLA might have bought him another year, but wouldn't be shocked with a change.
tubby is out per gary parrish
Is Minnesota a particularly desirable job, other than being a BCS job? The 3 coaches prior to Tubby were Monson, who was a disaster, Haskins, who (off the court) was a bigger disaster, and Jim Dutcher, who resigned 1986. The last coach there to leave on his own was Bill Musselman, who left in 1975 for an ABA job. I'm not certain they can do better than Tubby, although I guess they feel they have to try.
Smiley, you elitist prick.
Minnesota's new AD is the same person who hired Shaka Smart at VCU. Maybe he thinks he can lure him to the Big 10 or find someone else who works out just as well
Or someone they don't have to pay $2mill a year for mediocre results?
This has to kill Minnesota fans, as there are two top 10 prospects in Minnesota for the 2014 class. Good luck with that now!
Prince and Kirby Puckett?
I'm sure Musselman wasn't urged to stay after the fucking riot they had when Ohio State played them. And no, it's not a desirable job. I don't understand why they showed Tubby the door unless they have some inside info on some up and comer.
No excuse not to land Rashad Vaughn now unless Minnesota hires his dad or AAU coach.

fwiw, tubby's dream job is maryland...
So just Gene Keady him
do. not. want.
Don't tell KA.
Fire the Turd!!!
Obviously he's not coming here as head coach, but I wonder what his buyout provisions are like for him to take a job as an assistant? Similarly to Randy Shannon, I wonder if it's better for him to sit out a year or two until he can coach without having to forfeit his buyout.
I don't see why Tubby would want to go through all the shit required to (re)build a program at this point. But then again, coaches are weird.
I'm with Hogie although Tubby's not quite as old as I thought he was.
Norwood Teague and VCU put together the Villa 7, a conference that brought together top assistants to work on how to get their big break as a head coach. One of the benefits to VCU and Teague was knowledge about which assistants they felt were the strongest. It worked well, as VCU landed Capel, then Anthony Grant, and now Smart.
While Smart is an obvious candidate, I wouldn't be shocked if another mid-major or even major coach familiar with Teague through Villa 7 is the choice. And Minnesota has the money available to lure a coach away from another big program.
Even after losing all that beer money at football games?
Howland makes a ton of sense for Minnesota. Though apparently the big rumor is that after Shaka, they'll turn to Flip Saunders.
Why would they keep him? He's been there six years and never finished above 6th in the conference, never finished above .500 in the conference, never lost fewer than 11 games, and Friday night was his first NCAAT win there. For a guy making really good coin, that's pretty much the very bare minimum.
Haven't we already seen what Flip can do with an average college team from his time with the Wiz?
