as i mentioned on the terps sports part of the forum (in one of those threads), while those days are more stressful ... they are still so much fun, b/c you have something to look forward to. the worst is the next week and a half, where you have to hear from friends about their teams making it and MD not. granted, most of them will be eliminated that first weekend of ncaa tourney, but still.
Loyola Marymount, the 9 seed in the WCC tourney, has won two games and is now in the quarterfinals of the event. Still has to win three games to go dancing, though.
Schools that have never made the NCAA Tournament — the 2014 edition http://wp.me/plDgR-1WQ
Hoping for a VA final.
and seriously, why not just let Liberty host it? I know Myrtle Beach is somewhat of a destination but they can't even get their semifinals on the internet for the interested to watch?
ok and now I see that according to the Big South site, it will beo n ESPN3, but ESPN3 doesn't have it under "upcoming games"

Atlantic Sun Quarters - Only one small upset in the quarters with the 5 over the 4. Mercer, the 1 seed and home team, won by 34 in its first game, but FGCU (12 point win over Miami) is still a decent dark horse.
Big South Quarters - Chalk as the top two seeds in each division advance to Saturday's semis, but Liberty scored a big upset over High Point. Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb - both from the South - are heavy favorites to make it to Monday's final.
MVC 1st Round - Arch Madness kicks off! Creighton and Wichita State's opponents (Drake and Missouri State) were determined. With two possible at-large teams, no locks, and about six teams with an honest shot at winning the tournament, this should be a wild weekend. Mission one for the Blue Jays and Shockers is not to lose today - if they make it to Saturday, both are probably in the Dance.'
OVC 1st Round - Weird tournament format alert. It's an eight team bracket, but it's ladder format so the 3/4 seeds got a bye and the top two seeds get a double bye. Belmont (home team and number 1 seed) is a huge favorite with Eastern Kentucky and Murray State both plausible spoilers. All three of those teams plus the four seed Tennessee State are in today's semis.
WCC 2nd Round - This marathon 5 round tournament continues. Loyola Marymount (log5 odds: 3 in 1000) continues the best cinderella run in the land. Gonzaga, Saint Mary's and potential spoilers BYU and Santa Clara are still yet to tip off.

Plz do this every weekday.
oh, of course Lynchburg is boring. It's not like people are just flocking to the Big South tournament. When I posted that I was pissed because I couldn't watch the games today, and thought that was because they weren't streaming it via ESPN3 down there. Then I was made aware that it is because they have another day off and the semis are tomorrow, instead of the championship. Stupid.
i've been to lynchburg many times ... while liberty has a big arena for the Big South standards, there's not much around it. i've seen some big south tourney games at liberty and it's been a fun event.
charleston southern is pretty talented this year. not 16 vs 1 upset, but we saw fellow BSC foe UNCA almost knock off Cuse last year. CSU hasn't beaten anyone great, but they played close against Arizona. Strong guard play, could be a fun 15 seed, but they'll most likely get 16.
It would be the exact same set up in Lynchburg with a lot less fans in attendance. You have an issue with the Big South Conference's handling of the tournament not the location. Also every game so far has been available on the Big South website if you want to watch them. And i would argue that a lot of teams have had a very good turn out so far and most of sessions have been close to sold out. Certain teams travel better than others and it is also the first fully hosted tourney for the big south, and factor in that it is a down year for quality basketball and the turn out is great. outside of Presbyterian (who only have about 200 people for home games as is) every fan base has filled up a good portion of their sections. The Big South has always only had the semi's and Finals on TV so there is not change there.
i like your new arena, but i thought it was going to be bigger. i remember they had a plan earlier to open an arena and share it with the local minor league hockey team, but they settled for HTC arena instead.
here's the one i was talking about (can't find a better pic).
i've been to winthrop's gym, it's big, just more of a dungeon (think FSUesque lighting). haven't been to UNCA's new arena. High Point's is awful. VMI is okay. My alma mater, Radford, had many renovations to it ... it can get loud, and aesthetically it's one of the nicest in the league, but I wish they could ditch the bleachers.
this Drake-Creighton game is pretty good thus far.
the SoCon 1st round game (Georgia Southern-Wofford) was pretty weak.
Lynchburg does have a Bojangles now!
There's also one just south of town on 29. Rumors have surfaced that the nuACC is doing some scouting as Lynchburg starts to fill in requirements for hosting the ACC Tournament.
dougie mcdermott baby!!!
Yeah that was in the plans to start being built in 2008, and would have been awesome for a lot of reasons. They moved the main entrance to campus over and cleared all the land to build it, but than the AD and schools BOT did not like a few parts or layout of the new arena, and asked the main financial backer of the project (IMG? who was going to be footing most of the bill) to change it or they didn't want it. This was thinking they could get another financial backer, but the economy had other plans. That company got hit hard during the economy collapse happening at the same time and saw it as a great opportunity to say F it and backed out completely leaving Coastal's AD and BOT looking like morons for being to greedy.
So the AD had to find other money and that other money only came in the form of a grant for a student activities center which is why the new arena is built on the other side of campus and by the dorms and half of it is the new student rec center/gym. They have still left other spot open(just a Frisbee disc golf course now) to build the future arena on when funding becomes available. The ten year plan for Coastal is to grow to 18k students and build 10-15 new educational buildings.
yeah i remember reading up about that.
a lot of the schools in big south are looking to have similiar plans, but that sucks they have to wait all these years for a newer arena (but i guess in the mean time, this one will work ... it's better than kimbel arena for sure.
Good game in the SoCon. Furman up by one on Samford with over a minute left.
Edit: Palladins win! First win since January.

haha that was an instant ESPN classic
yeah, and it is the perfect stepping stone too. Find out what you do not like about this one and fix it when you build the new one in 10-15 years. There is currently not enough of a local population that even cares about basketball or coastal enough to fill the 3,600 seats that this place has. So it really worked out basketball wise, but the other place would have benefited the school in a larger way because of all the other things that could have taken place there.
more high profile concerts, showcases, etc.
it would've been a better venue for Big South tourneys too.
Evansville-Indiana State on right now. that's about it.
hope some of you got to watch that ... amazing finish.
Loyola Marymount hanging tough with Santa Clara on the U...five point game just under 8 to go. Would be the third win in three days for a team that went 1-15 in the regular season.
harvard back in the driver's seat (sort of) for the ivy title with a win tonight and princeton loss
