Its a lot less exciting when your team is coming off a 101 loss season and their big move is signing Scott Hairston.
That said, Baseball!
I'd say Edwin Jackson is a bigger signing than Scott Hairston. Scott Baker is a good buy low signing as well.
Now trade us Soriano!
@msanserino Francisco Liriano said he broke his arm when he slammed it against a door, trying to startle his kids Christmas Day
Why do baseball players always have the worst injuries? I remember Clint Barmes tripping because he was carrying Deer meat one time. Why don't normal people ever get injured in that fashion?
I tore cartilage in my knee getting my briefcase out of the backseat of my car once.....I was in my late twenties when I did it. Had arthroscopic surgery two weeks later.
Dennis Sarfate broke his collarbone moving furniture. Marty Cordova went on the 15 day DL because he fell asleep in a tanning bed. Ricky Henderson infamously got frost bite one summer.
Justin Klugh @TBOHblog
Liriano: "MERRY CHRISTMAS KI--**shatters arm bones against wall**--OH GOD NO OUR LIVELIHOOD." Liriano's kids: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
Carl Pavano ruptured his spleen shoveling snow this offseason.
I broke a bone in my foot in high school because the dog bolted up the stairs while I was walking down and I lost my balance and landed with all my weight on the toes of one foot
Didn't someone in baseball cut their foot on a glass sleepwalking one night?
Its even better than that:
Glenallen Hill, of the Toronto Blue Jays at the time, was deathly afraid of spiders. He cut his foot when he ran into a glass table while sleepwalking. Actually, he was sleeprunning in mortal terror while dreaming he was being chased by a spider.
Classic injuries in Major League Baseball History.
What was the ridiculous Jeff Kent injury I have always assumed was actually him getting his ass kicked by Barry Bonds?
Oh, "Washing his truck," that's right.
The two people who downvoted the OP should be banned for life. Go baseball!
Detroit Hustles Harder
Not injury related, but nothing beats Doc Ellis pitching a no hitter and claiming to be on acid.
Ernie Harwell read this every Spring Training. 2011 will be the first Spring Training without Ernie.
I posted this in the other thread, but worth mentioning again that Liriano's Christmas surprise cost him a lot of money. The original deal was two years, guaranteed for $12.75 million. The new deal is one year (with a club option) with $1 million guaranteed. The remainder of the $11.75 million is now performance-based, including whether he can stay off the DL.
#Braves C Brian McCann likely to miss first half of April as he continues to recover from right shoulder surgery:
