Ouch. Who said Theo was smart?
Why pay for 1 year of Edwin Jackson at 13 million dollars, when you can pay for 4 years of Edwin Jackson at 13 million dollars!
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
I still don't understand why the Nats didn't offer Jackson a qualifying offer. There was a 0% chance of him taking it.
They'd gain a compensatory pick when he declined? I'd think there was more to it, but what do I know.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
Yes, they would have received an extra pick, slotted at the end of round 1 (ahead of the competitive balance picks).
So stupid not to offer it
E-Jax done to the Cubs. 4/52.
Pierzynski signs for 1 year in Texas.
Polanco to Marlins 1 for 2.75 !
Francisco Liriano 2/14 to the....
I'll allow it
Now that move I don't understand. They should've been able to get him on a one year deal and if I were Pittsburgh I'd rather give that money (or a little more) to Marcum or Saunders.
The poor get poorer.
"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."
RHP Sandy Rosario's journey since the end of the 2012 season:
10/17: Claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox from the Miami Marlins
11/28: Traded from Boston to the Oakland Athletics for cash considerations
11/30: Designated for assignment by Oakland and claimed by Boston
12/12: Claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs from Boston
12/21: Claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants from Chicago
I wonder if he got a free hat from everywhere he stopped.
12.75 MM for 2 years now
Not a huge difference, but a little bit better. If he gets his old stuff back, could have another bucs run with wandy and AJ, but I wouldn't bet on it
I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie
Ross to Arizona on a 3 year 25 million dollar deal.
Not sure that makes sense unless they want to gain leverage for trade of upton, kubel, or another OF

Hanrahan reportedly close to being traded to Boston.

Boston going full on stupid right now. I know what we'll do, overpay for FA and trade for expensive players too to deplete our farm system. Seems like they are a team without a plan right now
More on Ross :
@JimBowdenESPNxm: Cody Ross and Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed on a 3-year $26 million dollar contract that includes a club option with $1m buyout #Source
Thank god Rube didnt to do that. but he just might apparently be dumb enough to bring back Ibanez. Give me Hairston please.

as long as Hairston is less than 4.5 million per year and either at 1 or 2 years, I think he'll end up being a huge steal of the offseason. Hard to find power like his. Sadly, I think the Mets will end up keeping him
Hairston is all or nothing, with a .288 career OBP vs. RHP. Fine as a platoon, but he's going to get 2/10 or more.
He's better vs. lefties, with a .825 OPS.
Not bad for a 4th OF. Power hitters like him don't care about OBP. He had a .863 OPS last year away from citi, that's pretty good IMO.
Yeah, that's fine. But he's going to be overpaid for a guy who's only useful in about 40% or less of a team's games.
ummmmm, why are you giving me his stats vs RHP when he wont be facing any right handers ......he isnt going to be signed to do anything other than be a platoon.....which is why I would want him.....
