looks like the nats are indeed the new phillies
Reds resign Broxton, Chapman moving to starter with innings limit.
Nats trade for Denard Span.
Committing very little money to nab exactly what your team needs while only giving up a Top 100 prospect who's destined to be a strong bullpen arm or end of the rotation SP at best?
Meyer is never going to be a back end guy. Either he develops into a frontline starter or doesn't, in which case he'll be a great high leverage reliever for a long time.
more that it looks like a one-sided trade to me, but the general approach the nats have is similar to what the phillies were doing before amaro lost the plot
i know it's "shticky" when i say stuff like that, and others could argue that span hasn't been that durable recently and meyer might actually be seriously legit, but it sure seems like a lot less than the twins should have received in return
agreed. i thought it'd cost more to get Span. Meyer is a very nice piece (#2-#3 starter, or lights out closer) and a pretty decent prospect (top 100 for sure) ... but if Span is healthy, he's what the Nats have been looking for.
I love watching how Frank Wren is going to screw this franchise for years to come. This deal makes Ugglas look good.
Pirates sign Russell Wilson.
russell fartin you mean!
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
In other transactional news, the Pirates have also purchased a dumpster, dumped $10 million in $20 bills in it, slathered it with gas and lit the fucking thing on fire.
"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."
Jay Jaffe @jay_jaffe
It's a mistake to devalue Russell Martin based on low AVG (.211 in 2012). Good walk rate, good power, OK throwing, outstanding receiver
Mets lock up Wright for 8/138.
i would like wright to be a met for his whole career. but i have a bad feeling this is another in a long line of met blunders
and i'm honestly questioning wright's sanity and intelligence. DO YOU ENJOY LOSSING

Martin is a decent player. I'm still not sure that it's the best investment for Pittsburgh, though.
Hahaha with you on the second part Jay. Glad to see that the Wilpons did something right for once though.
heyman reporting angels trade for former "best pitcher in the NL East" tommy hanson
Braves have traded Tommy Hanson to LAA.
That's my thought. In a vacuum I like getting him and that money isn't terrible. But for the Pirates spending that money on a catcher means we aren't going to spend that money elsewhere, like to shore up the starting rotation, which I think is more important.
Hanson for Jordan Walden.
that's going to work out very well for the braves
#2 starter or 7th inning guy. tough call.
