Yes it's real. ESPN has already issued an apology.
Wow, I'm stunned someone could have thought that was a good idea. LOL bad.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
That had to be someone trying to get cute and hoping it would slide by
I'll admit...it went over my head until I read this thread. I saw it last night and didn't think anything of it. Now that I think about it, I haven't heard that term in about 20 years.
To be safe, they definitely should have went out of their way to use another phrase...especially when a good portion of their headline feature puns (and a pun would make this very pejorative).
Anyway, more importantly, wtf looks at espn.com using incognegro mode?

So here's a dude using the term on the air.
ESPN Analyst uses poor choice of words when referring to Jeremy Lin
I highly doubt if whoever wrote that meant "chink" as an epithet at all or even thought of it that way, but it's mind-boggling that someone else in the room didn't veto it right away after thinking it over for a few seconds. I mean, when I was at the Sun, I tried to write a headline for a story about Kobe Bryant using the word "shine" (I think that was it) and my boss rejected it because apparently "shine" used to be an epithet for black people, which I had never heard of it until that moment.
Indeed it was...weird. The explanation seems like a bit of a stretch compared to pretty much everything else on that list but what do I know
Racial slurs for the whole family, impress your friends with your vast knowledge of hate!
"Maryland football: Where everybody gets hurt and the starting left tackle has an existential crisis."
Big Nose is a racist
Lots of old italians still call black people shines.
22 pts -11 assists with 8:36 left in the 4th.
This game has been really fun to watch. JR Smith is back!
I hate this piece of shit board. I tried to post my favorite gif of all-time, but here's the link.
