soccer noob here.
how do you guys pick who to cheer for? is it ethnicity? favorite player? hottest WAGs? i'm lost.
Pleased to meet you; hope you guess my name.
Denmark has some solid talent, though they have no depth whatsoever. They will steal points somewhere along the line, which will go a long way in deciding this group.
Style of soccer, certain players, ancestral heritage...or if you're me, root for the coolest jerseys in the tournament.
Krakow is popping off right now (even though they aren't hosting any games). My buddy has been sending me pic the last two nights and I can't wait to get there.
please elaborate on the talent. eriksen. who else?
how about o/u on number of goals they score in the tourney? i'd say about 2.5. and the only reason it is so high is that germany may have already secured first place by game 3.
im goin to go ahead and proclaim them the worst team in the tournament right now.
those are pretty awesome
Number 9 in the Fifa rankings....they're not even close to the worst team in the tournament.
I hate him so much, but Bendtner becomes Superman when he puts on a Denmark jersey
Plus Daniel Agger leading their defense, probably paired with Kjaer which has yielded positive results in the past. They have decent enough wide play and as lazy mentioned, bendter remembers how to play when he puts on the denmark shirt.
They beat Portugal in qualifying, and finished top of their qualifying group. They are certainly no slouch, and had they gotten a better group draw I might have picked them to advance to the knockout stages.
lots of knowledge goes into making those rankings. good job! good effort!
they are number 13 in uefa.
There are other teams worse than Denmark in this tournament. Ukraine, Sweden, Czech Republic ...
18 goals in 48 matches. that has to be one of the worst tallies for any forwards involved.
BTW, rankings mean jack and shit in football, especially FIFA rankings
FYI, Sweden is a better team than Denmark and its not even close
Also Bendtner is a douchebag
I lived in Germany, England, and Poland growing up.
Germany feels like rooting for the Lakers and England is a lot more fun to watch flame out. So, that leaves Poland. I don't know about WAGs, but they pretty clearly have the hottest wimmenz of these three countries.
With that said, I'll root for Germany when Poland gets booted.
i concede that czechs are in competition for the worst squad. but i give the edge to a team with czech and rosicky. btw, baros is still better than bendtner.
sweden is better simply because of ibra, especially now that he plays a deeper role for them.
ukraine has some solid creative talent. their defense is horrendous, i agree. and they lost three of their top keepers. but don't forget - they are playing at home.
Except that Rosicky is frail right now, and Baros might be more frail ... he picked up an injury yesterday and might be in doubt for the opener.
I concede that Ibra would be the best player on either squad, but Denmark would be better everywhere else on the pitch. Sweden is a one man show, even more so now that Elmander is out.
You are right that the home advantage could help Ukraine, I just think they are shit.
Trust me. Its more than goals. He gets involved in build up and works his ass off. He does what he never did with Arsenal.
I feel like Denmark is similar to the US. No huge stars, but few pretty good players and a team that plays well together.

This could be fun. Comparing countries to US teams.
I'll go first
England - UGA: Inbred fan base is completely irrational and expects them to win everything every year . In reality, they've only won 1 championship and even that was heavily disputed. A lot of fun to see them lose.
Italy - Duke: They flop a lot and nobody likes them
If we're comparing countries to teams, Germany certainly wouldn't be the Lakers. I was just commenting that picking them is like picking the stereotypically best team in the sport.
They're probably more like the Yankees, particularly from 1996-2000. Lots of very, very good players, but no true superstar. Workmanlike attitude that isn't flashy.
What's your definition of superstar?
When I read this I thought holy sh!t, Milan Baros still plays but then I looked it up he is only 30 years old, he has been around forever
I feel like Switzerland is Maryland. I'm not sure I know why.
