few direct flights make it difficult to get there on 2 days notice. im sure it costs and arm and a leg too.
sparse crowds indicate not much local support.
any idea why its in dayton ever year? wouldn't it make sense to have it in a place that is more accessible?
NYCTerp is now OCTerp
I think it's in Dayton cause before it was just the one game, and Dayton is the only place that really wanted it.
Only an hour from both Cincinnati and Columbus. Doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to get there.

It's a staple at this point. Apparently it's a great city for college basketball according to all of the media members who have been there. They seem to rally around the First Four thing I assume.
Good to see an Ohio town that rallies around a basketball game instead of rapists

And given the prices to fly and out of Cincy, most drive to Dayton and fly out of there. The Arena is actually quite nice.
The town will absolutely be crawling with IU fans all weekend.
They roll out the red carpet to the fans
are the crowds really sparse? it seems pretty crowded for me, and i thought that was one of the reasons they stay there. Guaranteed good crowds.
Can't imagine many people will be flying to Dayton from anywhere for the first four games, it's all about the local turn out.
how's the hotel situation? syracuse is a terrible host city for lack of rooms, but they keep going back there for the regionals every few years
It will be similar to Cuse, but a lot of people will probably stay in Cincy (45-50 minutes) if they can't find something in Dayton. Columbus isn't a terrible commute, and all the good suburbs are the west side of town as well.
That damn regional at Syracuse I couldn't get in the Terp Club Embassy Suites and had to stay at some smoke filled Indian Casino about a half hour away.
This. They have 2 more years on the current deal. NCAA almost certainly shops around after that.
Yeah I had to go to Cincy last Spring and it was actually much cheaper to fly to Dayton than Cincy. US Air has a direct flight from DCA. The flight attendant made a funny joke before takeoff about how nobody wants to go to Dayton but we are anyway. I think there's a big AF base around there
are you basing this on the play-in games?
Gambling wise, yes. Cancer wise, no.
Stats, Wright-Patterson AF Base is in Dayton. The Wright brothers themselves were from Dayton.
