ESPN is starting a daily soccer show in August. It will include MLS as part of it's content. Very excited for this.
Fucking shit wow.
Pretty fun read on the 3rd round Open Cup game that I spammed the thread about last month.

Rafael, D.C. United's young DP from Brazil, not in the 18. Not injured. His time is up. I expect club to release him soon #dcu #mls
I just put this game on for a few minutes.........and it seems like a cool environment there in philly. Can someone explain to me though why the US soccer fans try to copy soccer fans from around the world? I have been to baseball games in Asia, and they don't copy the way we watch a game.....they keep within their culture. Same for basketball in Europe, watch some Drew Nicholas highlights while playing there....... Not saying it is a bad thing, just seems interesting and something I noticed.
Yeah, but Asian soccer fans most definitely mimic what goes on in South America and Eastern Europe. I don't think tifo and chanting is "a Euro thing" or "a South American thing" - it's "a soccer thing", pretty much universal to the sport.
For whatever reason, basketball, hockey, and baseball don't work that way - for those, fans seem to mimic whatever fans do for the most popular sports in their country (i.e. tifo and chanting in European hockey).

not saying it is a euro thing, in asia they sing like that at baseball games as well. We are the exception in a lot of way was my point. if in asia they just did that at soccer games, you would have a point.
I've only gone to DCU games with friends, but my girlfriend wants to go this Saturday. What's the best way to get decent tickets for cheap?
Go to Stubhub for tickets.
Thought you guys might like to see this. RBNY just opened up their new training facility (which I hear is amazing):
This has to be the best new practice facility in MLS. Check it out.
Open Cup quarters tonight against the Revs out in Germantown. It's basically the entire season at this point, so let's hope things keep rolling from the weekend.
Oh and Rafael was released today. Another foreign DP success story.
Foreign FAIL train still rolling through DC...
3-1 win and we bossed the match for long stretches. I can't believe we still have a chance (albeit a small one with RSL and Portland on the other side of the bracket) to win something this year.
Was hoping last night would continue our run. We actually played well and created a ton of chances. Also got unlucky on PK calls from the official. Everything is about the US Open Cup now.
No talk about Olsen's postgame rant yesterday? Pretty good stuff.
First 25 minutes we were outstanding. Afterwards, not so much. We were unlucky with the ref but it's not like we deserved a win either. Scoreless draw would have probably been the just result.
But HOF Ben's rant after the match was basically the highlight of the season so far.
So what are thoughts on Ben? I think he so massively overachieved last year he was not set up for success this season by the FO, since we added practically nothing. I think he deserves another year.
He deserves one more year with a serviceable forward
It's hard to say for sure without knowing how much say he had in the offseason acquisitions. The fact that we ended up with tons of grinders, which he showed a preference for last season, makes me believe it shouldn't all be on Kasper and the rest of the front office.
I can't imagine Ben had much of a say in adding Rafael/Ruiz to Pajoy as the strike force we were going to count on this year.
Riley, Townsend, Kemp, Thorrington, Porter... maybe. But neither of those strikers are Ben-type of guys and its goal scoring that has been the biggest (of many) issues this year.
I don't think Ben is very good at all. In fact I think he's one of the worst coaches in the league. I don't think has a big picture concept of the game. He's really poor at making tactical decisions and formation/player choices. I think he's probably really good a motivating the team and I love him as an iconic figure of the franchise. But I'd be very happy if we got someone else. Last year was a fluke.
Anyone watching right now? We're playing in Seattle. Down 1-0 in the 20th minute. Zero chance to win. Such a horrible feeling surrounding the franchise right now.
Toronto FC have traded Luis Silva to you guys. I don't watch TFC anymore but 7 goals in the MLS seems alright for a MF in less than two years. We gave up on Sam Cronin too soon and Silva will probably play well for you guys as well.
Sold Rochat to Young Boys for $500K. Nice chunk of change for a player we only had for a month.
Good player. I assume that means putting DeRo up front. This year is gone and there's a lot of youth on the team, but it's all about getting a really good striker for me. Until then we're shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.
