H&H against 5 teams, single game against 10 for 18 games.
I think you need at least 2 annual partners to make things work with 15 teams. One annual partner with 15 doesn't work.
Conference tournament could be a big boon to the #1 seed if you make everyone else play Thursday. But that's 7 Thursday games. I think it's more likely we would see a double bye setup like the Big East had:
Wednesday: 10 vs 15, 11 vs 14, 12 vs 13
Thursday: 8 vs 9, 7 vs 10/15, 6 vs 11/14, 5 vs 12/13
Friday: Top 4 seeds begin play.
My initial reaction is that it means we definitely will NOT add UConn, or Rutgers.
Yet another school that has a varsity rowing program.
GET WITH IT KA
You can't play yourself, you mean head to head against four. Can have one rivalry, two, or just three divisions of five.
"Maryland football: Where everybody gets hurt and the starting left tackle has an existential crisis."
Damn it. 5*2 + 10 would be 20 games anyway.
I don't think we'll see 3 divisions; too many people want to play Duke and UNC more often. 1 set of standings, rotating schedules. 1 partner won't work with 15 teams, but 2 could. The bad news is that creates a 12 year rotation schedule. Ugh.

Really sounds like FSU is upset!

When you get older you will see the value in not waiting until the last minute to do things, you might not be around by then.

classlessthug: I have too much on my plate to worry about the fact that my junk intimidates some needle D undergrad.
Adding 5 ACC games is a great start. And I think the exit fee to $50M was clearly done to lock in FSU/Clemson as it pertains to whatever conference, and VT as it pertains to SEC.
Well gee that's a bold prediction now that FSU, Clemson, VT, UNC, NCSU, et al are clearly off the table as of 3 hours ago.
Which happened after I made that post thank you very much.

I've come to taste Nola's tears.
Louisville and Cincy to the Big 12!
The exit fee raising to $50m lends absolute credence to the fact that 2-4 institutions had a foot out the door somewhere over the last 4 months. This is a huge stabilization move.

ACC needs to start this press conference. Just giving Big 12 more time to line up talking points with their bloggers & message board plants.
Just to throw cold water on the latest rumor that FSU will get out of the ACC before the new buyout goes into effect:
" One ACC official told the Orlando Sentinel the upped exit fee goes into effect "immediately."
When pressured further about whether that meant anytime this academic year or sometime next summer, the official responded: immediately, as in "today." "

I just posted this in the other thread...my attempt
Ok so besides the obvious of giving the 1-seed a bye and everybody else playing on day 1 (7 games on Thursday....lol not happening unless staggered over Wednesday)...
Game 1: #15 v #10
Game 2: #14 v #11
Game 3: #13 v #12
Game 4: Winner of Game 1 vs #7
Game 5: Winner of Game 2 vs #6
Game 6: #8 v #9
Game 7: Winner of Game 3 vs #5
Game 8: Winner of Game 4 vs #2
Game 9: Winner of Game 5 vs #3
Game 10: Winner of Game 6 vs #1
Game 11: Winner of Game 7 vs #4
Game 12: Winner of Game 8 vs Winner of Game 9
Game 13: Winner of Game 10 vs Winner of Game 11
Game 14: Winner of Game 12 vs Winner of Game 13
I just did this out and tried tweaking it and may have make a mistake but drawn out on paper it looks ok
That's it, JDawg. The Big East 16 team model, except the #9 seed doesn't have to play on Wednesday.
Obviously I don't want FSU and Clemson to go, but can you lock them into this new exit fee without giving them a chance to leave? Unless they voted for it as well.
Unanimous vote for the increased exit fee.
The buyout increase really eliminates the moves other conferences can make with regards to expansion, particularly the Big Ten and SEC. Now if they want a big payday they'll have to work on dissolving the Big 12.
Swofford met personally with Clemson's BOT in July. A lot of info was swirling around CU's Rivals site as to the topic(s) of conversation. I think, in hindsight, a lot of it had to do with "what are you doing to solifiy the ACC that warrants us accepting a massive exit fee?"
Can't see where the Big 12 doesn't raise their exit fee now...we will see who votes for it.
Swofford deserves a lot of the hate he has gotten, but he's done a pretty nice job overall with expansion.
i never wanted nd as a partial member. So my tears are tears-of joy!
And I called ND to ACC long ago. ESPn was never going to let FSU go to Big 12 without a fight. ESPN could not stop the SEC from taking FSU-likely still couldnt, but SEC doesnt really want FSU.
Big 12 is fine as is. No need to add anyone.
