"Anyone who talks about Jordan Williams leaving knows nothing about basketball. Absolutely nothing" - Hogie 02/27/2011
Your a dumb moran
At least the last 3 were fraudulent
"I like fixing broken things" - Kevin Plank
I love how as soon as anyone says anything negative about Duke on this board one of their fans pop up to dispute it.
this thread sucks tbh
To be fair, this thread isn't the world's best. Who cares how you win it all? I'd take a "fluke" title sometime soon.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
I'm just glad they have guys like Tyler Thornton, Alex Murphy and Marshall Plumlee coming back.
That is not to say K doesn't deserve an honorary title for consistency
Another year for Thornton? Dang, he's turning into one of those players who's seems to have been at college for 6 years.
How many more Plumee/Duggers are there in the pipeline? Where are Milton and Micah and Mitchell?
2001 was a fraud. 2010 was a fluke.
whenever someone brings up the 2010 ncaa tournament i wanna go punch a wall or some shit
That team had 3 scholarship guards (not including Seth Curry, who was sitting out after transferring in from Liberty) after Elliot Williams left the program IIRC.
K knew he had a shitty team and got desperate, IMO, in recruiting. He's never been known as a poacher or anything slimy in recruiting, but he began recruiting Austin Rivers (had been committed to Florida since his FR year) before he reopened his recruitment, AND tried to sway Terrence Ross to Duke while he was comitted to us. He was at least successful in getting gin away from MD and to stay with Nike.
K was as surprised as anyone that the 2010 won it all.
"Fluke" definitely isn't fair, but it was one of those years where the "best" team didn't win the tournament but they were a good team that got hot and benefited from some good match-ups. Happened the next year with Uconn too.
Omg they lost to a 1 seed in the E8! THEY BLOW LOLOLOLHAHAHAHAHAHA
Shit won't break your hand
It's this, it's getting so old with the obsession with Duke. Can't tell you how many facebook posts I have seen say "my brackets are toast but at least Duke lost" Who cares.
I don't think it's just MD fans that hate Duke though. They're hated all over. That's what happens when you win a lot (and are flopping bitches)
Best two teams they played in that run both played zone (Baylor and WVa). And they were set up to destroy zone with great outside shooting + offensive rebounding. They were a good team but it was a perfect storm to win a championship.
def not, i was told at a young age to hate Duke. This was the early 80's, and Maryland was not anywhere on the family radar. I was a St. Johns fan, and the word Duke was never to be spoken in a positive lite in my house.
It's crazy how some here are obsessed with Duke. they care more about Duke losing than MD winning. The Duke hate stopped being cool like 5 years ago. At this point it's old since we aren't rivals anymore. It's like the equivalent of a 49ers fan hating the Cowboys today because of stuff from the 90's. How much time do you think Duke fans have spent thinking about Maryland since 2003? I'm guessing it's a lot less than what we spend on them.
hating Dook because you are Maryland is one thing, but hating Dook in general should not and will not ever stop. Dook, Yankees, Cowboys, Red Sox, Lakers, etc. Not surprising Bklyn and Colts are carrying the banner for looking down on hating Dook. Shut up plz

Fluke's a hard word to use because no one wants to hear it assigned to their accomplishment. It's even harder when you consider that Duke themselves had no control over the path in front of them. But yes, that title path was absurd.
Is it OK to hate Duke because of their obnoxious fans? Is it OK to hate K because he is to blame for all of the flopping that goes on in cbb? Is it OK to hate them for the Lonny Baxter foul in the Final Four and K saying UMD should worry more about how their players play than the calls the refs make? I'll always hate that team and no matter how often you all start the LOL @NC State threads or try to demean people who hate Duke with every fiber of their being, I'll always hate them and hope they lose.
I'll always hate them for that.
Marshall Plumlee is the, worst duke player I've ever seen.
