barring his spleen injury, do you think he had the potential to be an above average starter in the NFL? I don't remember seeing him play much. I thought he was going to be given a shot at becoming a franchise QB in Tampa. his stats aren't spectacular. his TD-INT ratio was bad.

No. He was garbage.
Major Appelwhite says Hell No!
This is the most random thread ever
Hell no. He couldn't even get higher than 60% completion percentage in college while playing with 1st round talents like Cedric Benson and Roy Williams.

? no - hope you were on drugs when you posted this
Yeah, between this and the Stanford thread, I'm really starting to wonder if we've run out of things to talk about.
So....what hole on your belt to you use? 2nd? 3rd?
classlessthug: I have too much on my plate to worry about the fact that my junk intimidates some needle D undergrad.
Poor man's Brady Quinn.
what the hell prompted this thread?
the issue of young athletes having their careers ended early because of injury was on my mind. you hate to see it. especially a freak thing like having your spleen blown up. that, and I enjoy Phil on commentary.
also, any topic that isn't current is random.
In grappler's defense I doubt I could've come up with a better answer.
(1) ok, but chris simms?
A buddy of mine is cousins through marriage with Chris Simms. That's all I got.
Detroit Hustles Harder
A thread about Billy Sims would have been less random.
Phil Simms is easily one of the 5 worst guys covering major sporting events.
I was happy he failed because it bothered Phil Simms
No he went to Texas
As the delegate from the not-so-great Buccaneers fanbase, I say fuck no. But you'll still see people wearing his jersey every now and then.
Tampa Bay's huge mistake was not signing Jeff Hostetler's kid to replace him.

i upvoted you for the randomness. but no.
Mah son coulda made it in the NFL, Jeem
No other Major Applewhite fans? Dude was the man. He was like 6 inches shorter than Simms and still beat him out
He beat him out? My recollection was that Mack Brown was a fucking moron and benched Applewhite for Simms just because he was the hotshot recruit even though it was abundantly clear that Applewhite was the far better player.
He did, off and on, but at the end of applewhites senior year he got a string of starts over turd Simms including their bowl game that year iirc. I was a kid at the time so I might be way off but that's how I remember it at least
I remember Billy Sims, I have his Lions jersey. He was great at Oklahoma but suffered horrific knee injury ending his career. He was a great running back and I vividly remember Sims flying over the line on a leap for many TDS.
Last pic is 3 Lion great #20s, Barry Sanders, Lem Barney, Billy Sims.
Phil Simms was not good, also a weed head.
For a long time, my favorite stat was that Chris Simms's first come-from-behind victory was against the Redskins. He had never led (or had to lead, I guess), a comeback win while at Texas, in HS, or in Pop Warner.
