Rude awakening. Maybe he sees something in Trent Richardson and that OL and that D. But he has no QB.
Edit: Looks like no

I just don't see how his gimmick offense is actually going to work in the NFL. He will literally need the most athletic players at every position. The whole idea of High Risk/High Reward works in college because of the dilution of talent, but I just don't see it being that successful in the NFL.
On the other hand, if this ruins Oregon athletics, I'm all for it.
"The drummer for Maryland's pep band just freaked out: 'They're trying to slow the game down,' he screamed. 'Get up on them, get up on them.
This is GREAT news for Maryland.
Damnit, I really wanted him to go to Philly and be the one guy to actually figure out how to utilize Michael Vick.
Good thing for Chips is his offense isn't a gimmick.
I hate having to root against him. I really want him to do well in the NFL so people will stop calling his offense a gimmick, but I can't have the Browns being successful.
I'd much prefer he go to a team like Buffalo, loveable losers, as opposed to Cleveland, loathsome losers.

Go away, KA!
Who's the last coach to go directly from college to the NFL and have success? Success being playoffs, SB or both. Jimmy Johnson? Tom Coughlin? Am I forgetting anyone?
edit: Jim Harbaugh, duh

You're right, it's not a gimmick offense because the plays are not trick plays, they're all just reads off of a few formations. The problem is, his teams are built on speed, with his team having more speed than the other teams. I just don't see how he's going to be successful against grown men who are just as fast as his players will be. Whatever happens it will be an interesting experiment.
Chip Kelly's offense is to score a lot of points however he can. He isn't some dumbass coach who is goin to try and pidgeon hole his system.
The Browns have a pretty good offensive line in place already, that will definitely help Kelly get going whatever he wants to get going

Pete carroll second time around
yep. chip kelly QB's dont even typically have giant rushing totals. he plays conventional football in an unconventional manner.
trent richardson is a top 5 fantasy back next season
Worst thing about the mobile site is not seeing keegs' aviator in this thread. :(
Hard to believe someone would willingly go to Cleveland. I know they are under new management but I'll believe it when I see it. Also how will he deal with a salary cap now blah blah blah.
It's hard to imagine an owner more disengaged than Randy Lerner was. I'm don't know how good Haslam will be but I'm pretty sure he won't stand for anybody mailing it in like that fat tub of shit Holmgren did (even if part of the purchase price was buying out that turd's contract). Browns fans are pretty obnoxious but rooting for that team has been so much torture that even I feel sorry for them; although that will probably change if they ever get semi-good.
this has failure written all over it. Steve Spurrier part deux
Why Cleveland over Philly?
Or Haslam might just be paying up for his first coach.
He wants to compete against proven poverty teams
Caplan and a few other the last two days said Kelly may not be the Eagles first choice whereas Cleveland seems to be selling out for him.
HoopheadVII: "Guess you won't say, "Sorry I'm a little off today" anytime again soon; Eaglesception is a bitch"
Looks like its either Philly or Oregon. Dude loves green
I've heard it's Philly or Oregon, but the Browns have gotten back in it last minute.
I just want to find out who the coach is and get this search over with.
Balls to the wall
