Except the fat guy is realistic about his recent struggles and is trying to lose weight, while the fat girl doesn't understand why she's not Prom Queen.
Plus the fat guy is about to make partner at his firm and is going model shopping pretty soon.
not he's not. I've probably posted way too much, but the fat guy is nowhere near making partner at his firm and actually flailing pretty bad in internal politics.
Fat guys definitely have it easier than fat girls.
fat girl at the bar gets all the dick she can handle. fat guy at the bar gets the "talk to the hand" gesture in his face from girls.
I think a fat guy can still land a hot girl if he's rich. A fat girl has to rely on bad lighting and beer googles.
fat girls can be rich too.
But, as sexist and unfortunate as it is, it doesn't work as well in that direction.
BTW, I like bashing the Chairman as much as anyone, but she sure made a sweet lax hire on her way out the door.
So your take is that Mark Gottfried is the better hire than Mark Turgeon?
I thought G$ defended the job that KA was doing. Did that change at some point?
It's a very complex job. I think Kevin did a great job coming out the door, he overhauled fundraising, infrastructure and a lot of behind the scenes stuff. I do think he plateau'd. I think he seems bored with the job.
Can we get back to the fat guy- fat girl analogies?
It is the business walk of the biggest, baddest bear in the national park happening upon an abandoned picnic.
G$ has always been a Yow-defender so take his AD judgments with some Morton's.
I saw him at Whole Foods recently. He did look bored.
A fat guy is going to be our next president
Whoever made that did it wrong
Even though he has significantly more exposure to this issue to inform his opinions, let's try to minimize the credit we give them!
The latest SI has an article on search firms - apparently we have one of them to thank for getting rid of her. The author of the article considers Gottfried to be a good hire, also via a search firm.
Both DY and KA are very bad at their jobs. Not sure how that's debatable.
Go away, KA!
I respect G$'s take on most things insider, but I'll say that after 18ish years we all had enough exposure to give her a failing grade based on her utterly absymal job performance and management of the AD.
She was here for 16 years and while I think she did an okay job in some areas, we're seeing how difficult the job actually is. A LOT of this stuff isn't her credit but when you talk about management of the AD, I would take this run for our next 16 years:
- Two F4's in men's bball, national championship, ACC title and several sweet 16's
- ACC title in football, BCS bowl game appearance. Several other good bowl appearances (some she talked us into)
- Men's soccer NC
- Hired a men's LAX coach who will win us a NC
- A bunch of women's LAX championships
- Women's bball NC
- Quadrupled the size of the Terrapin Club membership and donations (yes 4x growth in her 16 years you read that correctly)
- Maintained large part of her senior staff as UMD alumni
There are some things she did poorly and well know that. FWIW, I'd be shocked if KA produced or managed half the success above during his tenure here.
Why does Debbie get credit for a lot of that stuff? Because she was in charge? Give me a break.
