Yeah, that was kinda my point, but usually the media grasps onto something/gets tipped off about a certain topic. If the OOC SOS keeps getting hammered home we might be screwed short of a huge run.
I mostly agree with this. Bilas usually points out each year "we all know that bubble teams can lose, what I want to know is who you beat." I tend to agree with what he's saying each year, but UVA has sooo many bad losses. It's not 1 or 2, it's about half a dozen. Such a strange resume.
I think a win over Duke locks it up barring a collapse. 12-6+1 in your scenario I'd say like 60% right now, which puts you firmly on the bubble and potentially at the mercy of not having any bid stealers win their conference tourney.
Go away, KA!
Speaking of UVA, how does LOLunardi have UVA as a #13 seed, but not in the last 4 in?
Isn't this kind of saying that bad losses in November don't count and bad losses in January and February don't count either. You guys beat Wiscy in November, three weeks before you had the ODU loss.
Jontel Evans being out is kind of a moot point considering ODU has won 4 games this season. Sure it "lessens" it to some degree, but it's still an absolutely horrific loss.
The ODU loss obviously is terrible but I think Delaware was the worst loss for UVA because it kept them from NY and the NIT. Patrick Stevens retweeted a guy this morning or yesterday morning who said had they gone to NY UVA's non-conference SOS would go from 300 to somewhere in the mid 100s.
and honestly, he's not that good. he averages 5 assists, that's not awful, but that's really only what he can do.
overrated injury imo.
Bama up 15-13 on Auburn with 3:27 in the first. Dear god.
Jerrelle Benimon has 18 himself at almost the same point in the 1st half.
I'm pretty sure it would not be an exaggeration to say that Benimon is better than any Auburn player there is.
i really hate that memphis is a "lock"
WHO HAVE THEY REALLY BEATEN?
yeah southern miss (twice) who is on the bubble ... tennessee, who hasn't entered the bubble ... ohio who's not going to make the tourney as long as akron keeps pwning. all three of their losses have been to top 40 teams.
We were somewhere in the 130s in adjusted offensive efficiency before Jontel came back against UNC to start ACC play. After 14 ACC games, we rank #31 in adjusted offensive efficiency. That's a leap of over 100 spots since his return. That's a huge leap, and I wouldn't be surprised if it is the biggest jump in the nation for any team since the start of conference play.
CUSA is a 1-bid league anyway most likely, at this point people should WANT Memphis to win out so Southern Miss doesn't sneak in there and make it a 2-bid league.
Sure, but he's still a meh offensive player.
i'm not saying he's awful, but for the committee to really sit down and evaluate his injury ... it's not like they are looking at noel's absence.
Memphis,LaTech, and Akron need to win their tourneys. All probably at large teams. P
Lunardi says he'll bump Bama up 4 spots if they beat Auburn at home
Cool, beating GT on the road should be good for an 8 seed then
I can't wait to see Memphis sweat out a bid on Selection Sunday after Tulane wins the league tournament...
Schools that have never made the NCAA Tournament — the 2014 edition http://wp.me/plDgR-1WQ
so if we beat ga tech on the road we should jump to a 4 seed
Ed Conroy agenda alert.
Tonight's results have not been promising but lots of important games tomorrow (besides MD, obviously):
Akron at Ohio
Mississippi State at Kentucky
BC at NC State (would be a horrible loss and drop them down to last 8-10 at-large teams possibly)
Creighton at Bradley
Baylor at WVU
Texas A&M at Ole Miss
St. Mary's at Pepperdine
Arizona State at UCLA
Is this the real life?
not been promising? what has actually been a factor for MD/other bubbles?
minnesota was in. xavier needs a miracle to get a decent shot of getting into the tourney. bama beat crappy auburn, they still have plenty of work to do. if anything this puts more pressure on memphis to lock up a bid.
the florida-tennessee game is big. and for shits and giggles, i'd root for air force over wyoming.
really no damage done tonight so far.
