Flacco's cap hit is 6.8 million this year genius
Someone put on his thinking cap today. Too bad Ozzie didn't. Maybe he has fucking dementia. Apparently, he didn't watch the playoffs.
This x 1000 !!!
Leach is great but he is only on the field for 40% of the snaps.....wrap that around your heads.
Who do you consider similar?
Jennings terrifies me. He was in an unbelievable offense with a ridiculous quarterback and he isn't exactly the healthiest guy in the world. He's also going to command a significant commitment in terms of cash and length of deal. I would have kept Boldin one more year and rolled the dice with a guy who was just starting to show what he can do now that Cameron is out of the mix and we actually trust Flacco to use the middle of the field.
So just because you think that it's 100% right?
I actually agree I'd rather have Boldin than Leach, but I'm going to assume Ozzie knows more than I do.
Go away, KA!
That you two clowns agree on this makes me 10000% confident that we made the right move.
This thread IS 105.7. This is part of the game, as someone said, it's the downfall of being good. Things will be fine. Let's just spend the rest of this thread remembering Q for his contributions and getting us that ring.
My guess is they felt they could get a guy that is more of a long term solution at a similar cap # for this year. I liked Anquan and this sucks, but I'm with 286....as long as they go in to next season with a real #2, we'll be fine.
I'm coming around to being OK with this to get a legit number 1 receiver like Jennings. I just disagree with the opinion that because we won a Superbowl we can't want the team to be really good and win it again next year. If I think this hurts that chance why can't I complain about it? Why even follow the off season moves or watch next season if its all OK because we won this year
What do you advocate we do now going forward in light of this trade?
There is no way we should have done this with Boldin > Leach unless something is up a la Greg Jennings (not Wallace).
Wallace would actually be a great fit here, but I dont think he will come in at the right price.
good move, at least get something for him. why does everyone think boldin is so good? he's always been pedestrian in the regular season.
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
Whatever the FO does is what i advocate. They're pretty much never wrong.
But it does smell like they're up to something, for sure.
At this point you just have to let things play out, since there is little to no chance we go in to next season with Jacoby Jones as our #WR.
So has Joe Flacco and he just became the highest paid QB in the NFL. It's all perspective. You dominate in the playoffs en route to a Super Bowl championship people grow fond of you. Funny how that works!
He is tough as nails, a tough competitor and "Played like a Raven." Also his $6m number really isn't that high. That's the problem I have. However, I trust our FO because they're pretty much never wrong.
What are we going to do without Todd Heap and Derrick Mason guys?
This is what I'm thinking/hoping for. I just would've rolled the dice, kept him this year, and then seen if we can steal somebody in the draft or get someone in free agency next year
God, fans like you are the worst. We just won the goddamn Super Bowl and have a front office who is the envy of nearly every NFL team. Everything that happens isn't the "worst thing everz!!" Did some of you really not pick up on jsh's obvious "it's hard to be a Ravens fan right now" sarcasm? 286 dropping knowledge last page. Evo, love the Brady paycut trolling...good work.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
Never change DeClue
I'd like someone to explain to me how bringing in Greg Jennings (possible) or Mike Wallace (not happening, Dolphins backing up the Brinks truck) is somehow better than Boldin? You have to remember with Boldin that you get an unbelievable blocker, a great locker room presence, and a guy that already has spent a ton of time with Flacco and has developed tremendous chemistry with him. He is in great shape, so he isn't going to wear down. He is never hurt. He isn't scared to go make the tough catch over the middle.
This isn't just about being upset we lost a guy we all liked as a fan. It's just a poor business decision. Somehow, we still have Leach (who I would also love to keep) on the roster even though the team is phasing out the fullback. We still have Jameel McClain after we overpaid him, he played poorly and then got hurt. I love Jacoby, but I think he is making like $5 million to be a kick returner (which is a position notorious for guys having a big year and then disappearing) and third wideout. They should have restructured some deals and figured out a way to get it done. I understand it could hurt a bit down the road, but you have a team capable of repeating and the salary cap will go up a lot with the next tv deal.
he's 32. joe flacco is 28 and has shown that he can be one of the best in the league at times. boldin will never be close to the best receiver in the league for the rest of his career. he's not great.
i don't really take into consideration this "tough as nails" and "played like a raven" shit. that's some Dundalk BS. there's lots of tough guys and great competitors, he's not the only one.
I don't care about this move at all. I'm glad Ozzie isn't as sentimental as the fans and isn't keeping the band together for another run. 32 year old possession receivers can be replaced. Torrey is only going to get better, and I trust Ozzie to find another piece. The outrage over this is hilarious but expected considering the audience.
Just because it isn't an immediate upgrade over Boldin, doesn't mean it isn't a better long term solution. Boldin can't separate, isn't stretching the field deep, and is relatively injury prone. I loved him during his time here, but time to move on.
Maybe I'm overrating what Boldin brings to the table, but I think a lot of people on here are underrating his skills. He is a really well-rounded wideout. He made a ton of plays in the postseason, and that just happened to coincide with Caldwell taking over and McKinnie becoming the left tackle. We finally started to use him properly. Who is going to make the big catch over the middle? Pitta is good in that area, but Torrey and Jacoby aren't the answer working inside. I'm not opposed to losing Boldin. I'm opposed to the idea that what he will be replaced with will not be better than what we had.
