I heard that Murry Dickson helped run a train on the head of the BBWAA's wife, but I can't speak to the rest.
Sam Leever was known to spit on orphans asking for an autograph.
Sadie McMahon once beat a vagrant within an inch of his life for giving him the evil eye.
Tom Candiotti threw his patented knuckleball at Sadduhara Oh and made some disparaging remarks about his ethnicity.
Frank Dwyer never took a wife, but was known to walk around town after games with a goat and a marital aid.
Well, Carl Mays actually killed a man with a pitch...
Schools that have never made the NCAA Tournament — the 2014 edition http://wp.me/plDgR-1WQ
Incidentally, Morris was probably a better pitcher than anyone on the list above except arguably Gomez and Mays. However, I think you could make a solid argument that he wasn't as good as David Wells, or David Cone, and I certainly think Dave Stieb was a better pitcher. (The Dave pitching contingent in the Hall of Very Good is quite strong.)
Kevin Brown is an interesting comp. To be fair, while Brown definitely profiles better than Morris from a saber-friendly statistical perspective, I would favor Morris for the Hall if I had to take one or the other. It's hard to explain that, I suppose -- although neither would get my vote.

if morris gets in, may as well start the mark buehrle to the hall train in about 15 yrs or whatever
I'm completely stunned that a couple of Oriole fans are shitting on the chances of a Tiger player to receive a certain recognition. I've definitely seen this movie before.
Detroit Hustles Harder
Eventually you will learn that WAR is the domain of miserable pricks on message boards and not those who vote for baseball related things/actually get paid by the sport of baseball. Something must be in the water in Baltimore, must be the syphillis.
he's going to get that recognition for helping the twins win the world series though
I compare it to the Trout-Miggy MVP debate. For a good month the majority laughed at what we idiots we were. Total homers who could see the real, more important numbers. Then reality punched them in the mouth when Miggy won in a landslide.
yes, everyone was clearly arguing that trout was going to win!
I always worry that Ernie actually believes what he says. Detroitterp just wants DC people to like him.
DC posters are, on aggregate, a more likable/irreverent bunch. You guys take serious offense to practically meaningless things. Does it actually bother you if Jack Morris gets to the HOF? Of course it doesn't, but that's not gonna stop some people around here. You have to realize how old this shit is. It's pathetic.
The ESJ stuff was exactly what I had in mind. That actually didn't get old.
i'd like to see how they'd have responded if some non-nat fan tried to run with a shtick like that against them. the last fanbase that should ever accuse anyone of being easily BUTTHURT as much as they do
I actually felt bad for them, their pretentious self-important supercilious sabermetric hegemony got shoved back into their faces, and now the e-wagons are circling around Jack Morris. If they actually cared to glance at the big picture instead of cheap snark, they'd realize that the HOF may be more accommodating these days to a "nondeserving" player that may have once donned the cap of their favorite team.
Jack Morris must have given REALLY good moustache rides.
This may be the dumbest thing I've ever seen you post. You do realize Billy Beane, Dan Duquette, Andrew Friedman, Alex Anthopolous, Jon Daniels, Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, Sandy Alderson and Jeff Luhnow. The guy who created the predecessor of WAR, Bill James, is employed by Boston. Countless, and I mean countless, INTERNET BLOGGERS are being hired by MLB franchises left and right.
Of course I know this is your schtick. For some reason, and I'm honestly not sure why this is, you get your jollies on just saying the stupidest shit possible.

If it makes Detroit fans feel better, Trammel and Whitaker should be HOFers.
HOF fame voting is a joke as long as Pete Rose is kept out of the Hall. So he might have bet on his team to win. Unless he knowingly thru a game because of a bet he's no more of a cheater than Bonds, McGwire, or Clemens.
