Yeah, that isn't what was there when I took my visit there. Impressive.
Turner Gill is at Liberty!
"With a little research you will find the reason the MD athletic department is in hole is due to Debbie Yow building the school great facilities then being handcuffed by the MD boosters to not fire Fridge when she wanted. This resulted in her not being able to hire James Franklin (appointed coach in waiting by Yow). The shitty MD fans not showing up to pay for the brand new facilities they had been clamoring for resulted in them being in the crapper financially, not Debbie Yow.
There is a lot that can be said about NCSU fans, but lack of attendance is not one of them. Even with a sub .500 ACC record under Obrien NCSU still continued to fill up Carter Finley on pretty much every Saturday."
Here's the thing.... when I check out the attendance figures, the "decline" is only a few thousand per game. I know that adds up, but that isn't a budget buster.
Turner GIll is a good coach who got stuck in a terrible situation.
"Nine years of Rivers, Wilson and Glennon and we do not even play for a conference title . . . only at State. "
Totally. Kansas fans think they should be winning big time in the Big 12 since they won a BCS bowl 5 years ago. The guy was given such a short leash out there and essentially had no defensive coordinator last year. He was actually recruiting well and the players loved him, but since he only won a total of 5 games in two seasons, they canned him. I remember arguing with a ton of KU fans while I was out there about how he needed at least 3 years to turn it into his own program, but they all blamed him for everything, even though he had horrendous talent.
"The drummer for Maryland's pep band just freaked out: 'They're trying to slow the game down,' he screamed. 'Get up on them, get up on them.
Is Mark Mangino still alive? When's he going to get another job somewhere?
I would hope that Chad Morris wouldn't take another job within the division if he leaves. I think he will be at Clemson next year though.
His wife has/had breast cancer and he's taken time off to be with her. He was accused of player abuse at Kansas so it wouldn't shock me if the best he can do is an OC position.
I'm sure similar suites would remain empty at Bojangles Field at Carter Finley Stadium. She spent a fortune on things that had no chance at a return on the investment. Selling out Byrd for every game isn't going to be enough to fix that problem.
please expand on Turner Gill being a good coach. Liberty alum who was not happy with the hire. He had 1 winning season in his career before going 6-5 this year at Liberty. He needs to give every cent he has earned to Drew Wily.
This thread is an absolute gold mine right now.
"I know next to nothing of Doeren other than the little there is to read. Is he a stoic? Can he relate to Southern people? We don't need a third Herb Sendek, and that seems to be the antithesis of what Yow likes."
FootballScoop Staff @ footballscoop Hearing a rather unexpected twist in NC State search. Path forward for them not clear. Will update

Comon you gotta love this
Well, I mean, that’s what it is. I doodoo and then listen to Katy Perry.
I think we need to make a ruling that if you score 3 points in a loss to North Dakota State at a BCS school, then no, you are not a good coach.
i think Colorado hires him.
Many of Pitt's 58 "rushing attempts" were the result qb Tino Sunseri fleeing the pocket like a man whose clothes were on fire.
Turner Gill is not a good coach. Under him, Kansas was the worst coached team I have ever seen.
From what I understand State eliminated Morris, not the other way around. Twist could be coming with Dykes, though. There are rumors that Briles (or maybe even Patterson, I guess) may be part of the Arkansas search, and Dykes would be more interested in one of the Texas jobs than State. He's also been connected to Cal. Now both of the coaches in the MAC title game are being discussed, though you'd have to think Purdue would pursue one of them with B1G money. Please let this get hilarous.
yeah NC State picked a great year to have a coaching search. 4 SEC jobs open, which tend to get filled with other HC's in the south, which then opens up other HC jobs for candidates to take over NC St.
I've taken my name out of consideration
Wasn't she just in Alabama ? She promised them a coach who can land recruits like Alabama does ..... so is it Saban to NC State ?

MARYLAND. The area they’re now calling the DMV—D.C./Maryland/Northern Virginia—might be the country’s richest talent mine.
I'll feel weird if Hazell gets it. He's actually a real nice guy (coached RBs @ Penn) and deserves better than working for Yao.
I'm hoping for Yao and Dykes for no other reason than the continual comedic value.
@jgravleyWRAL: #NCSU is in the process of hiring Northern Illinois coach Dave Doeren.
