I respect your opinion but (obviously) completely disagree. What problems does it cause me? I have a point gaurd, but I choose to put Jordan there because this gives me more advantages off the ball.
In regards to my roster versatility....describing Drexler has a guy who could only do one thing is a crime. Ray Allen is characterized as being only a shooter because he is such a good shooter and was more limited later in his career, but he was a very good all around offensive player and athlete. Shit, he was in the dunk contest one year! (No, I'm not using the dunk contest as an argument in his favor, but you get the idea). Marion is one of the most versatile players of this era. If you want to describe Dikembe as a guy who can only do one or two things....then fine, but he is an all time great defender, rebounder, and shot blocker. I have no idae how Canyon expects to attack the basket with him and Ewing in the post and my defenders sagging off because his team can't shoot. He isn't getting any second chance points either.
I don't like the idea of starting two centers. Even when Kemp plays Malone completely owns him.
It's close, but i'll take Canyon.
Brent Barry was in a dunk contest and actually won it too (only white guy to win it).
I think I've states my case pretty well while staying within what is realistic in an actual basketball game. My team is poorly constructed in a few people's eyes but yet we are to expects team with 2 centers with subpar foot speed, no reliable point guard, no real ball handling from the 2 spot, and no plan on offense besides "Michael Jordan brings it up, kemp and drexler do what they do I ain't time fah dat, and yeai guess I'll just throw two centers in there on offense an try to live off offensive rebounds" is a cohesive unit....
All this talk about how his team handles mine on the perimeter....and that's fine. But what is his team going to do? I have long/athletic defenders on the perimeter as well and he doesn't have any shooters that will be consistently playing to spread the floor. I can play underneath pretty much every screen. The lane is clogged with two of the best shot blocking big men of all time and getting the ball down to Malone is a huge challenge in itself because I'm playing off of his guys on the perimeter. Malone is the post scorer in this matchup but getting the ball to him is going to be a huge challenge. He has good creators but having all 3 of them on the floor at once doesn't give them any room to operate since my team doesn't have to respect the outside shot. He also says he is going to space Miller out. Is his entire squad playing from 10-15 feet from the basket? That's a huge logjam in the middle.
Did you just point out that he was in the dunk contest????
You know that wasn't my point, I even said it wasn't an argument in his favor, I was just saying he was a great athlete.
I'm going to say this thing but its not because I want you to think a certain way. (Does it make you think a certain way?? Ok great)
You keep saying you have these long athletic wings that should be able to mimic my pressure defense but yet you have Ray Allen, Michael Jordan who is literally trying to fulfill every single role on the court against one of the best teams ever constructed, and Clyde drexler. That in no way is anywhere close to equal to the pressure defense I will have and it's important the judges know that.
Your team has better defenders on the perimeter, I don't disagree. That doesn't change the fact that 1. my team is still very good defensively, 2. all 3 of your perimeter guys operate in the same space on the floor which allows me to play off and take away what they do best, and 3. My team was much more efficient offensively and allows for better floor spacing. The combination of spacing the floor and having significantly more versatile scorers on the perimeter negates the fact that those 3 guys don't fit together at all. Penny does what he does best and takes MJ off the dribble. If Jordan somehow needs help in that matchup....then Penny kicks it to Kobe....who then does the same thing? It doesn't work. You don't have shot makers that score efficiently. Sure Kobe can shoot 20 a game at 44%, but that would be awful in this format. You have a team full of high usage slashers.

You don't have to have a stand still 3 pt shooter to create spacing. Malone and miller when in together can both hit out to 18 feet. There is plenty of spacing and the three guards will get plenty of good looks going towards the basket running a variation of the dribble motion driving and kicking.
You're confining your entire offense to 20 feet and in? That's exaclty why it is the right decision for me to play 2 centers. If you had a guy to space the floor and set out this strategy of doing all of these things, it would make sense. But you don't. You are condensing a bunch of all time great athletes in to a smaller area. How are you going to take advantage of your percieved advantage of playing too big down low when I can pack pretty much my entire defense in to an 18 feet diameter. How is the dribble motion driving going to work without the space to do it? My defenders can hedge off their guys to help the driving and get back to their guys easily because they don't have to respect almost anyone past 20 feet.
That's not what I said at all. You have those guys driving in from the three point line to create opportunities. If you are going to play completely off them and let them shoot wide open jumpers then we will be fine. These are all time greats. If you don't get a hand up they will make jumpers.
I'm not going to be playing 10 feet off, but not having to give pretty much any respect to Kobe and Pippen from 3 makes things a lot easier. I can help on drives and not have to oversell to get back if they kick it out. Pippen was a very average to poor shooter from the outside. His only decent percentage years were when the 3 point line was closer. Kobe has averaged 33% for his career, but it hasn't stopped him from taking 5 or 6 a game some years. Does he completely change that inefficient style to play in this format?
I am not going to vote because I haven't been following this, but WMTerp's team is way better on paper. If Willbo wins this round, that will be some fine politicking.
I really like Canyon's starting 5 but Mourning missing that one game hurts in a 7 game series. I'm not crazy about Canyon's reserves and one of them will have to play when Mourning is out. Also, I don't mind having Jordan with the ball in his hands the majority of the game. That's what great players do.
Magic Johnson is a PG. But didn't he play center in a game 7 whem Kareem got hurt?

Canyon made great arguments. Thought he could have loat vs titan but arguments won it. Then he kept it close here. I just think ***wmterp*** is a stronger overall roster. And the injury years kills willbo for a game or two
Knowing how much this galls Titan almost makes a loss worth it.
WM has the best team, but ***Canyon***'s team is built for this matchup alone.
You mean out of these two or overall?
This tourney is showing the difference between people who study stats and try to extrapolate them into whatever they want to believe and those that understand how basketball is played on a court. I think that's why Canyon is doing well.
If that was the case, my team would have advanced in this tournament.
Underrated subplot of this matchup: Does Jordan murder Ewing before Kobe murders Malone? I could see Ewing/ Malone missing a key shot at the end of one game and then get their ass handed to them by MJ/Kobe
If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?
