I have no subs at all now?? Mitch Richmond isn't allowed to play?? I think he would be fine guarding Allen or Marion.
Desperation is a stinky cologne my friend.
Is voting open to the public? Sorry if it's not
Tim Hardaway was one of the quickest guys and had the best crossover. You think Cousy ever faced a good crossover when he was facing OWG in his prime? He never played vs black players like this.
Btw Richmond is a bad maychup for marion. Though I doubt wm's team will ever run plays through marion
That isn't what I said, and it's apples vs. oranges. You wanted to play Shaq on a pick and roll game and take him out of position. I fully acknowledged that Shaq would completely dominate that series. What I meant was that I don't think Shaq makes up for som of the other disadvantages I felt you had. I don't have those same disadvantages. Even taking out MJ-Kobe on both teams, I'd like my supporting cast better. My floor spacing is significantly better then his. He has no outside shooters and a disadvantage on the board. That's a recipe for disaster on offense against a team with the perimeter defenders that I have. How is he going to enter the ball in to Malone on the post with the length I have on defense and the fact that I can play off of his perimeter players because none of them can shoot from the outside at a good percentage?
I'm not asking MJ to score as much as he would with the Bulls. He has help. Drexler is an impossible matchup for an inexperienced player like Penny, and I have serious advantages down low. I'm asking him to get the ball up the floor and initiate the offense.
Don't get me wrong, I think Will's team is horribly constructed. I just don't see why you would take MJ, then ask him to try to emulate Magic. In this system you are running, I think Magic would have been a better pick.
I agree with a lot of what ypu say. But just throwing pennys inecperience out there is ridic. He was being voted all nba teams the whole time dedpite youth. He was awesome
One day you'll have to sit me down and tell me how this is a poorly constructed team.
You have 3-4 high usage guys. Basketball is played with only 1 ball on the court.
So MJ will have no problem doing what you need him to do playing out of position despite the insane length and athleticism on my team yet my team will struggle to do really anything at all on offense because of your length an athleticism despite the fact that you have less of both AND I have a guy that played PG much more than Jordan.
Yea I guess that makes sense when you go through it. -_____-
Did you even watch that series? Allen did very well against Kobe. And that was old Ray Allen. If I cared about how particular teams played defense, I wouldn't have picked Shawn Marion either. His defensive ratings were good (not great, but good) before he got to Seattle and they were good again Boston.
Game 5 Kobe Bryant offensive possessions where Ray Allen was the defensive player of record.
Beating two of the greatest sports minds of our time would be pretty sweet not gonna lie.
I'm not discounting Penny. He was really great.
Against all star players, you have a bunch of guys who need space to score. You have no outside threat to spread the defense. If you bring in your one guy(who only shot well from the short line) for substantial minutes, the whole basis of your team(long, athletic defense) crumbles. You have the worst 3 point shooting team and the worst bench out of all 14 teams. That isn't a good combo.
Flattering, but I really don't think THAT highly of myself.
With the supporting cast I have right now, I completely agree that Magic would have been better in this matchup. I believe I've even said that about my team because I was afraid I would actually get discounted for having MJ. That said, this tournament is about matchup versatility and I think that Jordan has the creativity, ball handling, and passing skills to play that role effectively.
My offense isn't devoid of outside shooting, so my spacing works much better and my guys will have much more room to counteract that length because of it. Jordan is a much more efficient scorer then Kobe. Drexler is a much better offensive player then Pippen. He scored at a higher percentage despite being the #1 and sometimes only offensive threat on his team. Pippen couldn't get above 50% in his prime playing with Jordan (or without for that matter). Kobe shot 43% from the field one of the years you have him. Ray Allen shot 43% from THREE during two of his years.
***wmterp*** not particularly close
One last thing to keep in mind, again, is the fact that Miller and Mourning both each miss one game. If they miss seperate games, that means one of the two will likely need to play all 48. If they miss the same game that's pretty much a gauranteed win.. If you are going to pick Will in this matchup, you basically have to assume that his team is so much better that it takes 4 of the remaining 6.
This is a really good point. More important in this series than mine and SBryan series. That Miller is missing a game isn't that huge. Mourning missing a game is.
Hakeem is your best player and misses agame. Pretty important. But ill leave that to our thread
Ray had the benefit of playing on one of the best team defenses, maybe of all-time (they did win a ship with it after all), and one of the best team defenders of all time, KG. This allowed him to overplay on the perimeter.
IIRC, Hardaway used to abuse smaller PGs in the post.
He'll have that same benefit here. Jordan and Mutombo both won DPOY (Dikembe won 4!), and Ewing was was on the All-NBA defensive team and is top 10 all time in blocks.
You shouldn't bring up the versatility argument. Jordan can do a lot, but versatility is not your friend in this matchup. Versatility is what wins for Canyon here.
You don't have a PG, so you need Jordan to cover that hole, and that causes you problems. Beyond Jordan, you have a bunch of guys that are really good at one or two things. Canyon has a bunch of long, athletic players that can do a bunch of different things well. Much more versatile team.
I think you win the first half of game 1, but not a seven game series.
