If we could forever stop using a players Win-Loss record against another player as any type of significant stat, that'd be fantastic.
Bruce bowen plays a big part in that
Kobe is demonstrating right now that he can adjust his game to help the team. He's going completely off in this series as Titan possesses no one with a prayer of slowing him down. He will get whatever shot he wants whenever he wants it.
Yeah, but Dantley is apparently not being guarded. He is one of the best players ever at drawing fouls. I just don't see how Dantley being the 2nd touch after a double is a bad thing. He was a guy who just needed one step to kill people. He is being given two.
He is demonstrating right now he can adjust his game to hang on to an 8th seed.
He is demonstrating that he can play enough bad defense that his talented team is playing .500 ball. Young Kobe didn't demonstrate unselfishness at all. Just imagine if he was on an all-star team instead of only Shaq stealing touches from him. He is going to fight Malone after 10 games into the season. I'd be scared of young Kobe because he has proven that he can sabotage a championship team for his own selfish desires.
Hmm yea, this is a good point. On the one hand, a team with quicker/small guys may give you problems on the defensive end, but I don't see how they match up the other way either. The best defense for your team is a team with bigger perimeter players so that they can disrupt shots from the outside while at the same time "packing it in" and making you shoot over them. I don't think he can do that to you.
Titans strategy is to throw enough bullshit out there to fool people. He's cited two things already that are essentially meaningless.
FWIW, and I'm not taking this in to account really, but Canyon takes the series 4-2 on whatifsports.
I don't see either team being able to stop the other
24.7 PER, .202 WS/48, 55 TS%, 48% EFG, 27.9 PPG
24.4 PER, .213 WS/48, 64 TS%, 57% EFG, 30.5 PPG
I just don't see how you can say one guy is going to offensively destroy the series while the other is a liability. It just makes absolutely no sense. I'm not arguing Dantley is better than Kobe, but just dismissing Dantley is absurd. Lets not forget Kobe was getting secondary shots here too. One of those years he was busy taking 23 shots a game and making less than 10. While Shaq carried him to a title.
Watch the dantley video colts posted. Stats are fine but you need to actually visualize how a guys ACTUAL skill set would do against other players. This is a terrible matchup for all your wings.
Also, Karl Malone. I have him too in case people forgot.
Dantley wasn't conducive to winning. There is a reason why he played on so many teams. Every team improved when he left. What is damning to me is how the Pistons got so much better after they traded Dantley for an inferior player according to stats. Dantley was efficient, but he couldn't play the team game.
I have one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the tournament. Peja shot 43% on over 7 attempts a game. He carried his team to 55 wins that year. He shot 93% from the line.
I have no idea how Karl Malone fits this team at all.
You're looking at that the wrong way. I meant teams need to pack it in on defense against canyon and make him shoot from the outside.
"carried his team."No need for hyperbole. Peja was a really good player that year but his team still had the same core intact that almost won 61 and 59 games the previous 2 seasons.
Nah webber missed a lot of tgat season
82 - No playoffs
83 - No playoffs
84 - First round loss
85 - Second round loss
86 - First round loss
Traded for Dantley
87 - Lost in 7 in the ECF to Bird Celtics
88 - Lost in 7 in the NBA Finals to Showtime Lakers
I thought that at first but now I think the overall unit works perfectly. In what way does playing with penny, Kobe, and Pippen hinder his ability?
Webber had the worst year of his career even when he was playing, which was like 20 games.
Pistons in 1989 with Dantley in 45 games: +4.6 SRS
Pistons in 1989 with Aguirre in 54 games: +9.1 SRS
Mavericks in 1989 with Aguirre in 44 games: +0.9 SRS
Mavericks in 1989 with Dantley in 31 games: -5.3 SRS
The Pistons became elite when they traded Dantley and the Mavs got worse. The Jazz and Lakers also didn't decline without Dantley.
They were elite with him too. They lost a Finals game 7 vs one of the greatest teams of all time by 3 points.
You have no outside game. All of your players score from the paint.
Not all comes from "the paint", but yeah with that starting five it mostly comes within 17 feet.
