They had different roles, so I don't really think you can compare the two. Rodman's responsibility was to be chaos on the glass. He was amazing, but that's what his role was, it's what he spent all of his energy on. When Malone took a shot, he almost always had a man on him, if not two. That means all they did was turn around and box him out. Rodman was left open on offense, which means he had a clear run to be chaos on the boards. Again, just different roles.
I'm not trying to diminish Rodman. I love him in this type of thing and I think he was a great pick for the same reason I think Artest is great in something like this. I just don't agree with the arguments you guys are making.
You didn't pick 1996. Compare based on the stretches includes like you're supposed to.
I just picked a random year. It is better to compare in the same year. He was leading the league in FG% and OREB%. While winning DPOY and winning titles.
Are you really this dense? Not all offensive rebounds are put backs. But if you give Rodman a clear path to the board, he can rebound and kick it out to one of my 40+% 3PT shooters.
That's my biggest problem. I woul dbe arguing in different ways than this. It is like counterproductive arugments sometimes.
I knew it wouldn't take Titan long to call me clueless.
I'm sorry you haven't been able to put together a solid plan to attack offense.
Titan is all about career stats. That's fine I guess.
I'm trying to paint an actual picture of what happens when these two teams face each other.
I don't care of peja went 8/10 against fucking Toronto in some random game. I want people to think about what would happen when these specific groups play against each other.
These are three of the most athletically special 6'7-6'9 g/f's in the history of the NBA going up against one fairly unremarkable athlete and one well below average one. No clue why Titan is cutting Derek rose minutes. That's the opposite of what he should so in this series. We will grind on his team for 6 games and break them.
I still don't know what your plan is. Other than to run and gun. But if you could please explain how a run and gun works when you are going up against a team that doesn't miss a lot of shots and is better at rebounding, it would be appreciated. Your explanation for scoring is "Peja and Manu suck."
While it isn't a base, a pick and roll with Shaq would absolutely work. Lol @ anyone getting through that pick and Paul will just blow by Zo. You can run a pick and roll with Rodman. Tyson Chandler has a very similar offensive skill set. He was good for 2-3 oops. Rodman is still athletic. He can dunk a basketball. Paul in the lane is just lethal when when you have two great shooters out wide. Paul will run the pick and pop with Peja/Love.
Triangle sets will provide spacing for Shaq. It isn't ideal for Paul, but he can knock down jumpers. Dantley would be really nice as a weak side wing. Love plays the weak side post to pull Malone out.
Nice insight. Where have I once cited career numbers? When did I cite single games? Other than the times I showed how shitty Pippen was offensively IN THE YEARS YOU PICKED against poor athletes. Again, your offense is OMG PIPPEN SO ATHLETIC PEJA WHITE.
It really does surprise me that Will doesn't like Manu. He is basically a slightly worse defender, but much, much better shooter than Pippen. Similar games. But for some reason, constantly hated on. He does everything you need to win championships.
I honestly want to know if you actually watch games or just look at numbers on a computer screen.
Am I taking crazy pills? Manu and Pippen do not remind me of each other whatsoever.
Initially I'm pushing the ball ahead or getting it out of the net and running. Anyone who doesn't think we get a ton of transition looks against this team is on crack.
Our motion offense is going to be the motion the Spurs run. Gives me a chance to get spacing and get some cross and down screen action for some advantageous matchups on offense. I also plan on running a lot of pick and rolls with Malone.
When I sub I can really showcase Malone even more in the post because Brad Miller is adept with the ball at the top of the key and Mitch Richmond is really going to be able to stretch the defense.
I would like to applaud both contenders for their massive postings/participation. Makes this thing a lot more fun.
Ya good effort either way Titan. I think my team is clearly better and wins this series 4-2 but I think you we're under seeded.
I don't see a lot of people changing their minds after voting with this much info already out there so we shall see.
So how do you rate your team as an outside shooting team?
Agreed great arguing made this one fun. Will decide at lunch
Not as good as yours but good enough to beat you. Richmond shot just as we'll as Peja from 3 in those stretches. He will play a nice amount in this series. Penny, Kobe, and Pippen are minutes horses so I can get by rarely playing Cousy in this matchup.
And I think my length and athleticism has to have an effect on your perimeter shooting. That's just how basketball works. You aren't facing the run of the mill nba perimeter player as I have stated repeatedly.
Shaq is going to get his most of the game but his playoff average was 42.2 mpg in those three years. You have him playing 43 a game here versus the most athletic team ever assembled in the history of basketball that's fast breaking at every opportunity. You have to assume more wear and tear than usual for a seven game series for the big fella. Especially when he doesn't have that premier 2 guard to handle some of the burden that he has had ANY TIME HE HAS WON A TITLE.
Manu Ginobili has won 2 titles as a #2 2. So your offense is going to wear me down, but not you? Again, you won't be breaking on made baskets and offensive rebounds. I have the roster that will dictate pace. You can't just say you are going to run.
I realize that this is a "peak" thing, but I just can't wrap my head around the idea that Mitch Richmond is a guy I would want on any dream team ever.
I agree with this. Wanting to run is one thing, but you need to have a good strategy to actually make it happen.
If you really think that you can slow us down which I completely disagree on then why'd you draft Chris Paul. Your style of play is gimping him in like 3 diff ways.
Cool story on rodman being the lob recipient a la Tyson chandler by the way. He is 5 inches shorter and basically never did that.
He's starting Peja Stojakovic!!
