Rules per matchup:
1. Teams will have 24 hours to make all their arguments before voting can begin. Anyone who votes prematurely will not have their vote counted in the total. Voting will open at 9am on Tuesday morning.
2. Anyone may vote in the matchup. To vote, the person must either bold or *** the person's name who they think should win
3. Voting will last for 24 hours (so till 9am on Wednesday), after which, I'll tally the votes and count the winner. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be whomever has the most votes from the judges/ fellow owners. Voting for yourself is pointless and will not be counted. Full participant and judge list can be found in the general discussion thread.

If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?
Interested to see each team's argument. Wm has no point guard and boss has 3.
I want to see how Boss plans on guarding WM
Tim Hardaway will play PG for me this series. Westbrook covering Jordan, lol!
This was the best matchup I could have gotten. Nobody to gaurd MJ and/or Drexler, and I have Kemp to cover Dirk. I could even go big and bring in Dikembe to cover Kareem and let Ewing and Dirk go at it.
Michael Jordan will average 50 in this series.
I was putting Westbrook on Jordan regardless but you just made things a lot easier on me. Nash on Hardaway. Westbrook on Jordan. Not even going to pretend that ANYONE is stopping Jordan. Westbrook is extremely athletic and will at least TRY and stay in front of him. I guess Allen is your odd man out? Fine with me.
My plan is to switch Roy and Westbrook often to keep them fresh to guard MJ. This is an all time tournament so we get all time refs. Ewing's main move was traveling. I like my chances on him with Kareem. Kemp was as bad defensively as Dirk. I grew up a Sonics fan and love Kemp, but he is what he is. Dirk will abuse him. With Kemp worrying about Dirk and away from the basket I am going to try and rebound the hell out of the ball and beat you up inside. If you put in Dikembe and sacrifice offense I put Yao in and still have a potent offense.
Any team that has Jordan or Lebron in this thing is going to be hard to beat. You built a really good team around Jordan. Like I would against any team in this thing I have to win inside and on the fast break. I need to use my size in the middle to force outside jumpers. If those don't fall and the rebounds go long I need to get a ton of points on the fast break with Nash Westbrook and Worthy. With Hardaway in I have the better point guard, better center, better power forward, we are similar at the 3 and you clearly dominate the point guard. Allen Marion Mutumbo are slight better than Parker Roy and Yao (because you are benching a starter). This is not a blow out either way. This would be a very good series. Would be fun games to watch.
Yes he is. Who else is getting points if Jordan is shooting 20-25 times?

Kemp was a good defender (top 5 twice in defensive rating during the years I'm using him and top 10 in defensive win shares for 6 years in a row in his prime), but even more importantly he is a nightmare matchup for Dirk.
With the exception of Mutumbo, all his players are elite scorers for the years listed. Your best bet is his lack of PG issues but that will be hard to do.
FWIW, I'm adjusting the years on at least 1 of those guys, but will post them later.
Serious question... during Dirk's best seasons who gave him fits? You say Kemp is a nightmare matchup. Who is somewhat comparable that Dirk had trouble scoring on? I get that Kemp is strong and athletic, I'm just trying to think of what type of player actually caused troubles for Dirk. He could still just shoot over Kemp.
I would say it's a nightmare the other way. Kemp will have to guard the 3 point line. Kemp didn't see any power forwards that could shoot like Dirk in the years you picked either.
Tim Hardaway shot in the .410 range for the years he picked. In the years he chose for Drexler he shot 38% and 44% for 2 of those years. I hope they get their points. That means less of the other 3 guys who shot well.
We're keeping the years as is, so you stick with the same team throughout the tournament.
I have no idea. Just from an athleticism standpoint though, there aren't many guys ever who have had Kemp's athleticism at 6'10 with a huge wingspan .He isn't a complete player by any means and isn't a guy I can run my offense through or anything, but I think his length an athleticism would give Dirk serious problems. Sure he could just "shoot over him" and I'm sure he'd hit some shots, but I don't think you could name a better matchup for him in this tournament. I'd be more worried about a guy like Kemp getting bullied down low by a bigass 4 then I would through a finesse guy like Dirk.
Yep, got that, this is my first matchup though so I think I should still be able to change.
I feel like you should use years that you used in judge voting... though I guess it doesn't matter too much because some people gave none or only one year for that
A bunch of teams have given their years upon the matchup being posted. Changing my years won't significantly impact this matchup anyways, it's a small change to one of my bench players.
Fair enough - but do it soon, not totally fair to see the arguments unfold and then adjust your team accordingly.
Change MJ to 89-92.
Mutombo to 96-99 (pretty sure this was actually just a typo on my part initially)
As for the MJ would score 50 person...i'm fine with real discussion but come on...MJ didn't average over 35 during those years and that's not going against a bunch of all timers. MJ has the biggest matchup advantage in this series (as he will in most) but it's lazy to say he would average 50.
I'm still waiting for disagreement on any of these points:
Nash is better than Hardaway: Me
Jordan is A LOT better than Westbrook: You
Worthy even with Drexler (although i'd give Worthy an edge as he is a great complementary piece in a tournament like this: Tie
Dirk is better than Kemp: Me
Kareem is better than Ewing: Me
You have the biggest disadvantage but my team is more complete. With Allen on the bench you hurt your team in this series. You can play him but then Jordan has to play point which he did once and it was a season that his team barely made the playoffs and there was a new coach the next year. Again...my team may not be anywhere near perfect but I think I can compete very well in this series.
This one is closer than the experts think. WM is going to get a lot of the benefit of the doubt because of Jordan but that Kareem/Dirk frontcourt is deadly. Rodman is about the only guy that would slow down Dirk at his peak. Kemp is athletic enough, but he didn't play enough on the perimeter to keep up imo. The issue for boss is going to be his defense. Steve Nash is a complete liability against whoever he's matched up with.

The bigs for Boss are definitely making things close, but the three point guards on his team are a big liability... especially against a team with such good perimeter players like WM has
Which is why in this matchup Roy is gonna play about half the time subbing for Westbrook. I'll need his size against Jordan anyway.
If you're planning to give up 50 on 25 shots, you're going to look like the Bobcats.
I just want to see Nash accidentally switch off and have to cover Jordan for a play. That would be PPV television.
