Rules per matchup:
1. Teams will have 24 hours to make all their arguments before voting can begin. Anyone who votes prematurely will not have their vote counted in the total. Voting will open at 9am on Tuesday morning.
2. ANY team owner or designated judge may vote in the matchup. To vote, the person must
either bold or *** the person's name who they think should win
3. Voting will last for 24 hours (so till 9am on Wednesday), after which, I'll tally the votes and count the winner. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be whomever has the most votes from the judges. Full participant and judge list can be found in the general discussion thread.
If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?
Bossterp's team would score about 180 points per game. The question is whether they're going to give up 179 or 181 points per game
Don't sleep on how bad Jmanslow's team is defensively. When I saw the first 4 names on his team (Robertson, English, Melo, Barkley), I wondered if he thought about defense. Fortunately he also drafted Howard. Though I don't know if that makes up for the other defensive liabilities, but I'm not sure he will need it. Bossterp's team is poorly fit for a triangle offense. Nash/Westbrook backcourt won't work. How do you fit those 2 and Kareem in the triangle? Phil Jackson will have to adjust his offense to take care of that.
Didn't you hear? The triangle is Dirk/Nash/Worthy. Kareem is in the Rodman/Fox role.
Neither team are great defensively. So I guess it will depend on who can execute better on the offensive end.
I guess Roy probably splits time at the 3. I don't see the point of having 3 pure PGs in a format like this. What is the point of Westbrook if you are never going to play him at the 1. Or if you plan on playing him at the 1, is Parker going to get 0 minutes?
He is fine off the ball. He was off the ball last year in the playoffs a good bit. His quickness at the guard spot is going to be tough for you. Are you really going to try and cover Nash/Westbrook with Oscar/English? That could get ugly.
But covering Westbrook with English is just asking for Kareem to pop off for 50.
Legit question - can Dwight cover Kareem, or at least contain him? I have no idea who on bossterp's team covers Barkley
This series is a shoot out. I don't think anyone can even slow down their matchup.
I thought it was 24 hours for them to make their argument?
it is - they're both on the clock. We'll vote tomorrow whether the chime in or not
OK I just meant all of these people trying to make their argument for them should just wait.
Man, this one is tough. I love Barkley in general but this is is one of the very few teams that he is going to be a huge asset against IMO. I think Dwight can slow down Kareem just as well (if not better) as any of the other top big men in this draft. His offense is where things would fall apart. I don't love Boss's team but I think this is one of his better matchups overall. W
There are some serious offensive mismatches on both sides, but the most glaring is who the hell is going to cover Dirk? I just don't think they ever find an answer for him.
As a voter, I don't have any problem with people asking questions or trying to poke holes in one of the teams arguments.
I feel pretty confident in this one. As has already been mentioned scoring won't be a problem for me in this matchup. Try Ignoring Titanterps obsession with me. I did say Dirk would be one of the primary options on my team but I didn't say Kareem would be Rodman. I said if my offense is run correctly Dirk will be wide open every time, and Dirk didn't miss at this point of his career when left alone. I plan on putting Westbrook at the 2 and having Roy back him and Worthy. English will have a very tough time staying in front of RW. When he blows past English and everyone collapses he can get it to Kareem or Dirk, or hopefully find 40%+ three point shooting Nash wide open. I would like to see these guys try and keep up with me on a fast break as well.
Look at the height differences at the 4 and 5. I have Yao on the bench. If Howard gets in foul trouble who is guarding Kareem or Yao? If he did get in trouble i'll play both of them and score every time.
Lastly, the best weapon I have in this game is that if it's at all close in the 4th i'll put Howard at the line.
Boss - who backs up dirk? Do you plan on playing kareem and yao together often? Or will you play small? Also, are parkers minutes only coming at backup pg?
Also, who does Nash guard on D?
Westbrook can play some two due to athleticism. I want to like boss' team, but it seems like he has to players that can only play pg and two that can only play center. Hard to have such little flexibility in a competition like this
Nash doesn't guard anyone on d. With our size we clog the paint and force jumpers.
My option to backup Dirk depends on matchup. I can go Yao and Kareem if someone has size. A team like this one i'd probably put Worthy at the 4 and Roy at the 3 and go small for the few minutes I bench Dirk.
My only complaint with JManslow team is guard quickness. I think his team needs an up tempo guard on team, a dribble penetrator, speed guard.
I ran 20 simulations and you lost by 80 points every game.
My small lineup would not be something I would go to very often. Wouldn't need to or want to in this matchup. People complain about Dwight and his effort in a league WITHOUT centers. LOL at thinking all of a sudden he will reach his potential against Kareem. Potential gets coaches fired. Might get you eliminated.
I have no idea who to choose. Both are pretty flawed
This is a really close matchup, but I like ***bossterp*** here. I agree with his argument about Dwight vs Kareem. Bossterp's lack of defense will hurt him later, but he ran into a team that is similar to his with that problem. Kareem + Dirk is a deadly combo.
